  3. I can see wht Precedent went out of business with the quality of the kit parts for the Stampe
  4. Built the elevator as the storm blew on Saturday. As you realise I am building all the main components then dry fitting to get some idea of where the COG will be. If all goes according to plan, ( which it usually doesn't ) I want to put a servo in the tail with a hatch. This will run a short link to the hidden elevator crank as per original. The elevator joiner was improved from plan (T8). A second pair of triangle fillets were cut and 1/8 balsa sandwiched between the two halves. This will provide some decent glueing and pilot holes for the joiner. The servos in question will be 2 x Hitec 625 for wings, Hitec 645's one each for rudder and elevator. And a Futaba 3003 / 3001 or similar  for throttle. 75lbs nylon coated fishing trace wire for closed loop Elevator showing the blocks for the 3/16 Robart pin hinges as well. Hopefully this will give idea of what I hope to do Edited By cymaz on 25/11/2012 09:35:56 Edited By cymaz on 25/11/2012 09:39:53
  5. I got one of these for another 1/4 scale (1/4 scale pilot with flying suit) project..same hieght but look at the cost!!!! I can always sit him on a cushion
  6. Began building the tail. I followed the instruction booklet and now wish I hadn't. The book said put leading and trailing edges down and cap strips and add the ribs. I then noticed after everything was glued that the ribs have a profile on each edge. I should have put the ribs in centrally and then put the cap strips on after the fin was lifted from the board. Still it wont be very noticable as it is on the bottom. Picture shows the rough fin ( it will be sanded!!! ) and the start of the elevators. I will be making the elevators as one then splitting them.

  13. Here are the lower and upper centre sections. I have put basa triangle fillets in most of the outside ribs for strength. Also my Hanger9 1/4 scale cub pilot has arrived. Very good deal from here.   Just seeing how long he's been here       Edited By cymaz on 16/11/2012 11:33:49
  14. Don't be put off with a Seagull Dual Ace. One of the easiest twins i know to fly. So good that when I had a mid air with my first DA ( not the planes fault I must add ), I got another. Goes well on two Irvine 40's
  15. Building the lower and upper wing joining sections in the next few days , more pics to follow.
  16. May I suggest that flying clubs could look to combine rc cars in the club. There would be some croccover of engine and rc knowledge. Surely it could be arranged that cars have a cetain day on the club strip. I bet that a few car rc'ers would move to planes. The club would be larger and more influential. Just a thought....I'm not trying to rock the boat. Also its down to parents not willing to take kids out and stand in a field to watch them fly.  Some parents could want to drop off kids and go off using the club as a baby sitting facility.  Any club members must be willing to donate planes to their club so anyone can fly without spending large amounts on initial outlay. This is a real bug-bear. The cheaper the initial outlay the better- once the bug has bitten, fliers can get their own planes in their own time. Club committees could draw up a proper stragety to attract members. Open days, inviting Air Cadets, talks and static displays at schools etc.......... There must be more provision for club trainers and planes. At our club I run have a club trainer always on hand should someone want to try, though  it needs some pre-warning by a week so the batteries can be charged. I am very happy to spend time letting people have a go under the BMFA" try before to fly "clause. Edited By cymaz on 13/11/2012 12:53:27 Edited By cymaz on 13/11/2012 12:54:32
