Building TN Halifax

Recommended Posts

Hi Michel,

If you were referring to the modelling clay the answer is no.  I purchase
my clay from a ''craft shop''  as a  5 kllo block about 15 years ago, and it's
as good and manageable as the day I bought it.

The great thing about it, these no waste, it's the best recyclable material
I have ever used.
It is a wonderful material and user friendly for plug making. Panel lines
can be made with a stroke of a spatula, simulate rivets with the use of
different sizes of brass tubing.

I woud not be without it for plug making.

Hi guys

Sorry for so much time without news, is not that I stop building but is for
not much will of posting. I was costumize with the Lysander thread that goes with plenty of company and informatiom from many people with a rithm that force you to go ahead.

In other way I'm truly disapointed with Mr. Toni Mijhuis because is the second time I send him e-mail and a NO for answer were welcome but no answer at all is sad.
And as we build the models that he design, and show the buildings not only in this forum, and contribute to expand his work and his business world wide, another behavior were expected, but....no problem at all.

Well, I will try to coment the pictures I will post because there's so many that I'm afraid I loose some continuity.

The side edges of the wings had been done
First a solid balsa block

and last shaped as well

Then I buy the glow switches for each engine

And decided as it goes as a scketch

Test fit the location of the things with motor and tank in place.

Begining the finishing of ailerons and flaps with fiber and a primer.

Other pic

Test fitting all parts

And put the vinyl strips for final painting end barnishing

Studying the way to put all radio conections
Later I decided avoid all the y leads and conect all the servos to one
Emcotec central station

Now a glance of the work together

"putting us all to shame" NOOOO is not my idea.
About costs you're wright. I go on buying things and desperatly always four or them.
I had stop for some time to make financial exercizes adding all the parts for
don't squeeze my good mood.
But the last things I have to buy is an Emcotec power box and all rx batt and on board batt

First the real one choose for reproduce as model

Star glassing the fuse that is quite a job
Don't see to much but many hours of work

Also put a rib glued in fuselage instead of making the fill in the wing
rib due to the shape of fuselage

Start to put the vinyl strips on the fuse

Plane near of computer for measuring and mark the panel lines

Also make the little ray dome detail

And glue the radar dome

Now begining with paintings

One more

And another

Also painted the canopy and turrets

Painting the black and see the efect of the vinyl strips

Hello Mario,

Just got an opportunity now to have a look at the thread..... (Been away in the canary islands to escape the UK cold weather )

You've done an absoloutely superb job of your Halifax, we'll done

I just need the drive to get mine finished as well, they say the final 20% is the longest bit .

By the way I made a change of decision away from electric and purchased the OS 40 FS's.

Hi guys

Lately I don't post to much the reason is not I stop my building
but last week finnaly the event were I want to present the Halifax is deted
to 14th and 15 th April and going to fast and not much time to stay
in the computer.

And before I go to the event, that is in Spain and call Bellota Jets, is the greatest
meeting in this zone and is for Jets and Scales, I have to maiden it and make a few
flights to know better the model and is flight.

So, I continue with paintings and do the insignias in the fuselage

Quiet a job

Another view

And the last

Almost finish the rear turret

Only after do the maiden flight I will do the gun, for now it will fly like this

Began to put all the cables and extensions for servos and glow switches

Is quiet a mess of cables

Start also to make the glasses.
I use acriclic from CD boxes that have 0,8 mm thicknes

More glasses on windows and hatches

Mount the rear undercarriage

The servos for tail wheel and elevator

And a steering arm for the tail wheel

Because I need to do many equal pieces and I was decide to do that
in vaccum formed parts I build for the first time a box for the
vacuum

Build the wood rectangls to secure the ABS

The plastic in place

And the first experience that turn to be a disaster

Happens that with the heat the paint that iI used or the primer to finish the
plugs, creat bubles and all messed up.
This is how the pieces became

Well, I have to clean all the painting from the pieces and try to do the
vacuum forming with the pieces just in balsa.
After many time, always observing the errors and triyng to correct,
finnaly I arrive to the correct temprerature and the pressor from the vacuum
and ther it is.

And another

Cut the pieces with a Dremmel tool

And the pieces done
