The title says it all really.

The engine has a CDI ignition and one of the magnets is on the bottom of the crank case The other is recessed into the prop driver.

My question is this.

Where should the 3 be lined op to achive the best results?

Prop at 2 o`clock magnet at 4 o`clock etc etc

Does that make any sense?

Hi Kevin, I can't work out why there is a magnet on the crankcase unless you mean the "ignition sensor" itself? I've looked at the assembly drawings for this engine and it appears the sensor is attached at the very bottom of the crankcase. The magnet in the prop driver will have already been positioned to give the correct timing. As the prop driver is keyed onto the crankshaft there should be no timing issues for you to worry about.

I have got one of these 40cc engines, and jolly good it is too.
7,500 RPM on a 20"X 8" prop and still running in.

Don't worry about the ignition as it is set to fire at the right amount of degrees before top-dead-centre (I forget the exact figures).
Fit the prop in the normal position of about 2 o'clock, just at the start of compression.

Sorry not explained very well.

Sensor on crankcase, magnet on prop driver.

As you say the magnets position is pre set. What I am after is the prop position in relation to the magnet and sensor. Should it be set like a glo engine so that it is at about 2 oclock when the piston is at TDC?

Is that any clearer?

Getting myself confused now....
