Plummet
The vulcan folk are short of money again. Their employees are on one month notice again, finishing at the end of this month. Please be generous. Keep her flying, please.http://www.vulcantothesky.org/Plummet
Danny Fenton
I know a few will say what again? I have already given something.... Well yes we probably have all given something, and several times in my case, but keeping the Vulcan flying isn't a one-off payment type thing, its a never ending struggle for the guys and gals. A target of £400,000 must be met by the end of October and with just 5 days to go over £240,000 has been raised, just another 159 to reach the target. I know times are hard but we really must keep her flying........ http://www.vulcantothesky.org/ Cheers Danny Edited By Danny Fenton on 26/10/2010 12:08:
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
I'd like to add my voice to this plea - c'mon everyone this is a major piece of our engineering heritage. Anything you can manage would be gratefully received. I know these are tough times but once she's gone she's probably gone for good - we might not get a second chance at this please give generously BEB
Doug Ireland
Maybe the people at Camelot could help out. The money needed is a spit in the ocean to some of the "needy" projects they've funded in the past.
Tim Mackey
Or a certain prima donna Mr Rooney ?I read this morning that he spent £2500 on lunch for him and his missus whilst on holiday this week in Dubai.
Phil May
Yes Tim, I don't think he's miss a chunk of his £250,000 weekly wage!!!!! B.P
Wingman
WHAT?? A quarter of a million pounds for playing football once a week - that's just totally obscene!! Just how much does it cost to watch a football match these days anyway? (sorry, I'm a complete non-footy)
Allan Bowker
I've just donated online with PayPal. Sadly I couldn't afford the required £159,000 however I hope my donation helps. Spread the word around, this needs more publicity. I didn't know about their plight until I read this forum posting.
Steve Houghton 1
Me too, donated via PayPal. It would be such a shame if the only Vulcan left in our skies was an rc model. And what of the Harrier? Will we ever see that at airshows again?
Keiran Arnold
Having read some comments of a 'Full sized ' forum and from what I've seen over last couple of years. I am sadly of the feel why again- Don't get me wrong I think the engineers on the 'coal face' are doing a fantastic job but I can't honestly say I have confidence in the Management. Kieran
Just PayPal'd the last of my money left in my account, only about £8 left in there! But as a poor college student of engineering, I feel it is worth it, you only have to read "Vulcan 607" to appreciate what British engineering was capable of (with the right men behind it of course). I have seen the Vulcan at the RAF Museum but have never seen a Vulcan fly. I was due to watch the Vulcan fly at RNAS Yeovilton but it suffered brake problems, so I was gutted! Hopefully the trust can overcome these financial troubles and I can see it fly in 2011! Cheers, Kieran.
Michael Hickman
Posted on the XH558 site last week. Nov 2, 2010 by Ian Homer "First, I’m delighted to confirm to all XH558’s supporters that the target of £400,000 for our October Appeal was reached just in time over the weekend."
