Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
I am on 3.0l (that's "ell" not "one") at the moment. I assume version 3 is still at the beta release stage? Assuming you still have version 2.whatever and your licence is valid, you can go to the website and re-download 3.0, then it should auto update, it did for me. boggy
Dan there is a quirk with one of the later updates that needed the tx plugged in before starting phoenix. if that does not work go to the system tab on the toolbar and click the check for updates box that should "force it " to look for the new u/d's. Noel Eaton
Hi, I have a Phoenix disk it,s version 5.01 I couldnt get the upgrades to "join " the phoenix programme, ie .they downloaded and just sat there as programmes but made no difference to my sim when I ran it , I was advised to uninstall the phoenix 5.01 and reinstall it along with the upgrades in one operation , Now I cant even run the phoenix at all , I just get a message "Phoenix has encountered a problem and has to close now " I dont know what to do next to get it up and running again Any suggestions ? Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Sorry Noel - never heard of Phoenix 5! I'm still at version 3 and as far as I know that's the latest one? I'm really much of an expert on sims - I just fly on them! Can anyone else advise here? BEB
Lindsay Todd
Like you BEB I'm on latest update of 3, did have problems updating thoug and last update only worked when I tried to use the go online fling, have no idea why, but it worked? John Privett
Noel, I've just run my copy of Phoenix. I haven't run it for a few weeks and it updated from version 3.0.m to 3.0.q. So I've no idea what your "Phoenix 5.01" could be! Mine started originally as (I think!) version 1.5 and has been updated many times up to its current version. Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Yep, I'm at 3.0q as well. Noel, I know this is going to sound really daft question , but you are sure its Phoenix you have and not another sim by mistake? BEB
Noel Eaton
Hi again, Sorry I made a mistake, It,s not 5.01 ,It,s actually v1.05j Now that I,ve managed to get that part right, does anyone know how to take it from there ? thanks Noel
David Gilder
Noel, Go to the Phoenix website and upgrade it from there. It wont do the in programme update untill you are on v3.0 Hope that helps. Dave
Noel Eaton
Thanks for the suggestion Dave , My problem now is that Phoenix wont open at all ! Every time I try to open it ,I get a message saying "Phoenix has encountered a problem and has to close " If I try to down load from the Phoenix web site ,it wont recognise that I have a disk installed. I,ve got the Phoenix Icon on screen but it wont open at all. It wont proceed past that point and I have to close it , Are there any computer buffs or Simulator jockeys who can suggest a remedy ? I,m REALLY MISSING my simulator fix Noel By the way r6dan, did you solve your problem with the downloads ?Edited By Noel Eaton on 06/03/2011 11:06:
David Gilder
Noel. I take it you still have the disk itself... You may need to remove the phoenix programme from your computer, Reboot and do a disk defragment and cleanup. Then re-install Phoenix from your disk and when that has completed, go to the website downloads section and upgrade fully from there!! That should get it running again Sounds like something has had a conflict with the programme and by doing the above, it should clear up the issue and allow you to fly again!! Let me know how it goes please. Dave
Noel Eaton
Thanks Dave I,ll give that a go this evening I,m off to the field now to try and get some real stick time in ! Cheers Noel

Pat (rActive) Harbord
You should find a "safe mode" exe in your Phoenix folderRun this everything should be okay, you can then close it and run the normal version. Safe mode turns down all the graphics and other stuff this will allow it to save configuration as it closes ready to be read back in by the normal version. If this doesn't work you will need to reinstall from your disk.If anyone needs it, I have all the upgrades from 1.5 saved on my hard disk, happy to share if anyone is having problems downloading from the site. Do note you will need a legit initial installation for the updates to work.Pm me your email address and I'll dropsend them to you
Noel Eaton
Hi again, OK .. so I deleted ALL references to Phoenix in "my computer" "control panel" etc and uninstalled, Then ran disc clean, and defrag etc, This took ALL of Sunday evening ! Then reloaded disk and downloaded up grades to v3.0.mThis took nearly three hours last night ! I tried to open phoenix v3.0.m and.... Got message " Phoenix has encountered a problem and has to close sorry for any inconvenience" I could have cried ! What is wrong with the $%^&*() thing rActive thanks for the offer but will it make a difference ? As i seem to have downloaded all the upgrades , but it just wont open ! John Privett
I've certainly been impressed with Phoenix support. I emailed them about a problem I had during the beta testing of an earlier version (probably 2.0) I sent the email at around midnight on a Friday and really didn't expect any response before Monday morning. 15 minutes or so later back came a response with the answer I needed.
