Hi John,

I have been to the RC Hotel three times with my Wife Margaret( she also flies model aircraft )We have had fantastic holidays. The site, staff ,accomodation and food are excellent. The owner Spiros is a great guy and an excellent model pilot F/W and Heli.
Spiros will send a taxi to the airport to collect you thus everything is very easy.
You are with like minded people and thus everything is friendly and helpful. The weather is usually good!

Best wishes,

Fred

Rather limited flying in the afternoon (from 13:00 to 17:00) as I recall. The excursions are for anyone who wants to go on them. Not just a "lady" thing. You can walk to the sea at Gouvia (about 45 mins); the excursions go to most of the tourist spots like Palaiokastritsa.

I went a couple of years ago and while I enjoyed it most of the models are a little "flight weary" It is best suited to beginner/intermediate pilots who want some intensive flying time to help them improve.

The fying site itself is nice but if you land out (crash?) it can be a job to reach the model due to undergrowth and boggy ground (I was there late April and there had been lots of rain)

Spiros is a great guy and the accomodation is good as is the food.

I've been twice and can thoroughly recommend RCHotel. So does the wife and she doesn't fly. My first trip was to receive tuition and the Instructors are first class. Which enable me to gain my "A" certificate, before I went on my second trip. All the Staff are great and so is the food.

Johnny B & Erflog -
I went to the old site a few years back.
On arrival Spiros (the ownwer) Told me that i would enjoy the holiday, he then told my wife that it was his job to ensure that 'non flying partners' would also enjoy the holiday.
At that time the hotel minibus was used for organised trips on two or three days a week and was available for trips into town (shopping to keep the ladies happy) on other days for a modest fee.
We both enjoyed the holiday, only health concerns have prevented a return visit.
I can heartily recomend it.

I've just come back from a weeks stay at the RC Hotel with my wife

We had an excellent time there - great staff, great facilities, great food and great company

There's a great choice of model's to choose from and the support from Spiros and his team is second to none

I was not sure if my wife would like it but she loved it - she normally likes beach holidays and is not into rc model flying so it says a great deal when she wants to go back!

Over the seven days I was able to fly for six which was great...on the one day when that wasnt possible we toured the island which is beautiful.

I fully recommend it!

Jon

I visited there for the first time last September: can echo all the positive comments about atmosphere, friendliness, flying availability, wife/family facility, etc. We took a "top room" which I really recommend for the view, balcony, etc.

Regarding the models: yes many ARE used by all levels of fliers so the more well-used ones get tatty; radios are set up on a basic programme so not lots of fancy mixing on the aerobatic models, but they do the job; remember, you're effectively "borrowing" the models so if something ain't right, TELL THEM! ( problems will be attended to or the a/c grounded till time permits); you're NOT supposed to change ANY carb settings as they're supposedly set rich for prevention of overheating during the hottest times: this does sometimes result in the engines being TOO rich at WOT and idle, so just get the guys to adjust so there's NO risk of a rich-cut in flight.............. you defo DON'T want to land out in the thick thorn-bush!. Having said all that, I had a great time & flew a lot of models (some of which I wouldn't normally, so just for the hell of it!). The "insurance" is good peace-of-mind, but some of the more expensive models have an extra "excess" in case of bad damage: THESE are the ones to go for if you're a good flier, as they're generally less-flown, better fliers & more capable (I flew an Ultimate, T28 & Katana which were brilliant fun).

Great facility & would definitely recommend, and look forward to going again when I next can.

Hope this helps.

Bill
