Gentle Lady Model Glider above the clouds!

Yeah you need a keen eye or two Ken!

Hi Devon flyer, I checked the cloud base on XC weather and it was about 2000ft at that time on the day, Also we get used to how big the model is and how high it is and have calibrated how big the model looks at 2000ft with a digital altimeter. To do this I again the altimeter attached to the model and video'd it, please see video below. The Gentle Lady was at 2000ft here, maybe you are right as it does look higher in the video below. It's hard to judge altitude from the ground but the plane seemed to be a similar size that that in the video below when seen from the ground. The altimeter was set to relative altitude so effectively the model was 2000ft QFE not QNH in the video below, The terrain is fairly flat.

If it was the cryogenics department, Ken, I don't think you'd get more than an icy stare............

Really nice vids, Stuart - it's not easy to fly smoothly at that sort of altitude

I don't actually know the power train used as my friend Tom Wright (Tom Wright2) electified the glider for me. The motor has been going for ages!

I originally bought the GL as a glider and then the only modification really was to detach the nose block and put a ply former there in order to mount the motor. The battery pack fits comfortably into the fuz.

Also with flying the model at great height it is surprising how fast you can be going when at height, although the model does not seem to be moving very fast it can be! especially if penetrating into a headwind, so care must be taken not to overspeed the model.
