Thanks for the warm welcome chaps , I think I must have balsa dust in my veins , or at least in my lungs ! Have done the full aero modeller apprenticeship , airfix,F/F glider , F/F rubber (not very successful) , C/L and then at the tender age of 15 , R/C .I still dabble in f/f power and control line but my interest at the moment is scale and classic r/c models ,oh, and biplanes , defiantly biplanes.

Hello Jeff, from another prodical son of this wonderful hobby. I have been away from it for over 18 years but it has always been in the back of my mind to return. I am overwhelmed with the developments that have taken place in my absence and the fact that I am fortunate enough to be able to afford to indulge this passion has affected me like a child in a sweet shop. I just wish I could entice my nephews away from their computer screens and their make believe world and look at what this pastime has to offer. There is a disipline there for everybody spanning from design, aerodynamics, carpentry, electronics, art, mechanical engineering and oh.. good conversation amongst friends with a common interest and it saddens me, as someone who grew up with Lego, Meccano, Airfix and KielKraft that these kids just do not know what it is like to experience the joys of creating something that actually flies.
I derive most of my enjoyment from building models but having purchased a simulator my confidence has progressed because my experience on real hands on RC flying was confined to trainers. I am now beginning to fly more exotic aircraft with flair (on the simulator) and this only increases the craving for the habit er... I mean the hobby.
I often reminice of the times when I was , and still am, a novice in my old club in Ireland. My favourate times were when there were just three or four of us on a late summers evening flying our planes, maybe one or two at a time, enjoying each others efforts with the smell of freshly cut grass. There is very little grass where I live now but I am so looking forward to be able to experience that feeling again.
