Galaxy Models, in administration

THANK-YOU, GALAXY MODELS

I went along this morning. Lots of folks in the shop picking up quite extraordinary bargains but i couldn't help feeling that modelling has lost another pillar of its establishment.

I'm sure that once the bargainfest is over we can all offer our collective thanks to Gary, his family and all the staff from Galaxy Models for all of the years of friendship, advice and support for our much-loved hobby with all of the very best wishes for the future.

Yes the Site seems to now be out of action I don't know why, I guess all you can do now is call with a few things in mind and see if they have anything left. They had very few engines only a large 4 stroke and TT18 2 stroke, mostly larger kit's (of low winged type) and no Galaxy Kit's as they have been purchased buy the new retailer, which they can get them to contact you if you want any in the future.

Do you know where you can get them? Just interested, happy the Domino will still be sold.

Chris, if you are interested check out my Domino build log. Sorry, don't know where you can get them.

Very sad news all this. I live about 4 miles away and now I it'll be watton or norwich. Buying from the internet is all well and good but I like to stand in front of a shelf full of stuff, sometimes I like to chat with the shop owner.

Gary is a nice chap and always took his time to serve me just what I needed, my heart goes out to him. I also wish peter all the best 'cos he has always been a polite and chearful chap to do buisiness with.

I think the down-turn is only just kicking in. I've not had a pay rise in 3 years and the cost of electric/water/food/fuel just keeps going up and up, I've not got the money to spend on my hobby.

Good luck Gary and Co. xxx

CS & Paul (I think),

I was told if you are interested in any future Galaxy Models kit's let them know and they will take your details and pass them on to the new owner of the rights to sell them and they will be in touch in due course. I didn't leave my details for them but regret that now I probably should have.

I guess the new owner is trying to gauge which kits have the most interest too.

So can I. I won't be taking a trip too Galaxy, no time.

I can remember going there when I was 2 or 3 after one of my operations. Possibly my earliest memory.

Goodbye Galaxy, and thank you for all the good times, of which there have been many. My Domino will be my memorial to Galaxy, a symbol of the good times.

I wish all the best of luck to everyone involved in Galaxy models.

Goodbye Galaxy Models.

Like many here I have known Galaxy for as long as I can remember, starting off with a small balsa boat and steadily growing from there. My first radio (Futaba Medallion 3 - still have it!) was purchased here.

Loved their trainer - the Escort until it got soggy with fuel.

Took a flying break, and starting again they were the first port of call.

Got 90% of my stuff from them, and not just the stuff you can buy. Advice not only given FOC but backed up by experience and a practical hand if you really got in a fix.

When I was younger I always had a hankering for their 100" wingspan glider the Condor but never had the money for it. A few years back I asked Gary about the possibillity of getting hold of one which was a no go, but he did his best and came up with a set of plans from which I built the Condor I have now and have been flying for 4 years.

I have been watching the slow decline of this, my favorite of shops over the course of this year.

From chatting with Gary it seemed the trade never really seemed to get going this year at all, the shop always seemed quiet when I popped in during lunchbreaks.

So sad when I visited the shop this monday with my 11 year old son, to see an almost empty shelved shop (compared to the normally stuffed one he always had) and everything being got rid of. I do wonder where all the modellers and their cash suddenly appeared from to nearly clear his shop in 3 days! Surely if they were around and buying his stock prior to his closing down, then he possibly may still be in business today.

So many thanks to Gary and all his staff for the modelling experience he has given me which I still enjoy today, without them it may never have happened. Best of luck to all of you in your future endevours.

WRT Galaxy Models models, I believe that they may be available from My Hobby Stores if my memory serves me correctly.

Galaxy was a superb shop and website - I still can't believe this.

For those of us (like me) who loved their kits......www.pegasusmodels.co.uk sells quite a few nice kits including the Wizard, Magician and Mystic from Galaxy.

Take a look online.....look on the bottom left for the "Pegasus Kits" button........I think they sell 23 different designs. I will definately be buying some!!!!

Good news. From the kit perspective I've just learned that the range will remain available via MyHobbyStore retail who run the RCM&E plans service. Apparently some of the foam wings etc. are made by the firm that makes existing items for the plans range so there's a 'fit' of sorts. They'll be appearing on the MHS retail site within the next few days.

I'll say it on the basis of the daft comments posted in the past but.....needless to say, although MHS Media owns RCM&E, this is a separate division and RCM&E has no interest or involvement in the venture.
