Major
Hi guys. Simple question - who took the engine from me just few seconds before listing ended?? For winner's information - now I have to bid again to get the needle valve assy! Not very nice at all it was Link to auction - **LINK**
Tony Read
Not me, but coo - that was cheap! To save that last second rush that sometimes happens you can use one of the 'sniper' services. Used one myself when it was for one of those 'must have' things.
nasa_steve
it was probably a sniping engine that done it !!
Major
Everything could be ok - I saw bigger bid few seconds before it ended and tried to give more, but eBay loaded my bid too late. Ehhh, almost free carb and nice piston key ring have gone... Sniper You say... Will do a research about that. Cheers Tom
John Privett
Major, that's the nature of ebay! I don't use the sniping engines, but enter my bid in the closing 10 seconds or so. Of course that doesn't give me time to respond to ebay's automatic bidding (or anybody else's late bid), so I decide in advance how much I'm prepeared to pay and add a few pennies to that and then enter that figure in the closing seconds. If I lose then I lose to somebody who was prepared to pay more.
Major
Thanks for advice John! Well, it got me by surprise. Good lesson for the future. Cheers Tom
kc
You are complaining about missing an old OS 20 for 29 pounds?? Does not seem much of a bargain to me.
Major
No kc, this one has been sold for much under the tenner. If it would be 29 pounds, I wouldn't look at it - for .40FS I paid 50...
Martian
in fairness it was £8.50 incl postage.
Paul Marsh
That's nothing. I bought a OS 25 FP for £2 at a club auction one time...
Major
... and You want to sell the needle valve from it??
Victor Saliba
You are very funny Major. Since it was available only to UK residents, it wasn't me. I do have an OS Max 25 and a 30 in my collection. Good luck next time
Major
Just to clarify - I didn't mean to be very serious/show anger(???) or anything like this. It's about that stupid feeling, that maybe one or two seconds took it away
kc
The link was to the 29 pound one! Someone bought it! You mean the OS 20 is a collectors item now? Well what do you know! They will be collecting electric motors soon.........
Dave Bran
But then some iggit may well have been prepared to go £20 more than you'd ever go anyway. Not Flying related, but I in that arena only buy from EBay after Christmas before the lunatics are released from Christmas related overspending to start again...................iggits that are quite happy to bid and buy used secondhand with no warranty AT WELL ABOVE THAT AT WHICH SOME WIDELY ADVERTISED RETAILERS ARE SELLING NEW!!!!!!!!!! John Privett
Posted by Major on 17/03/2013 17:45:06: It's about that stupid feeling, that maybe one or two seconds took it away I always reckon that any bidding before the final 20 seconds on ebay (or even 10 seconds) is irrelevant. More often than not things change in the final few seconds.
Major
No kc, the link was to the one for 5.50 + 3.00 PP. On my computer it works as it should.... 29 quid for old, leaking OS... no way. Someone was really desperated. And Your comment about electric motors made my day - thanks. Dave well, at least for selling party this is good thing. And I understand their point - more expensive = much better Edit: John well, I'll remember that. It was good day anyway, as I won two engines for few pounds. Testor and one Cox. Another cox is on its way. I also have prepared some plans on pen drive (to be printed this week) and shopping list (wood and stuff).
