Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Right then, being a glutton for punishment I decided to give the Dawn Flyer a go but a little bigger, ok double size, this should give a wing span of 96" and I'll be making it up as I go along so feel free to chip in at any time. Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Not a lot to see so far, working on scaling up at the mo, so far the fuz sides, and u/c doubler, stern post and lower longeron support have been done. Off to the copy shop tomorrow to blow up all the formers and bits and pieces.

Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Ok patience got the better of me and I have just been upto the local spar to use their photocopier, and mistake number 1, I placed the needed pieces into the copier, pressed the enlarge button and ran off 22 (individual) copies. Great I hear you say....hmmmm, should I have checked the % enlargement before running them all off? YES! I now have all the drawings for a 141% enlargement lol, ho hum, back to Spar tomorrow for some 200% ones, I thought it strange they all fitted onto A4 sheets especially the ribs. So if anyone wants to build a 141% version I have the copies already
Tony Bennett
ha ha ha dont tempt me you naughty boy. going to enjoy this one, what sort of weight are we talking about.
Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
The original is 2lb8oz, so 4 x that near enough I suppose, maybe not quite as the material sizes won't be 4x the sizes, but at the mo I'm thinking a 750W motor with 4s set up. Strange that twice size is actually 4 x bigger lol.
Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Ignore that last stupid statement, I think I've inhaled too much Cyno fumes tonight lol. Wing area is 4x on double size IIRC.
Tim Hooper
Posted by Dylan Reynolds on 03/11/2013 20:34:17: Strange that twice size is actually 4 x bigger lol. Shouldn't that be x8? Twice the length, twice the width, twice the depth. Nice project though. It probably won't be overpowered on only 4 cells. tim

Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Long time off choosing a power set up, I think this can be left till last on this one there should be plenty of room up front to work once finalised. Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Welcome Andy, do you have a link? Been dabbling today Firstly I produced 2 CNC cut rib blanks These are 430mm from tip to tip! Next I knocked out 20 rib blanks in balsa using the cnc templates, I have a feeling I will need more ribs so spacing isn't too stretched and I don't get covering sag. I then clamped them all in a sandwich, marked the spar positions and cut them out Next job is to remove the leading edge on all and the trailing edges on some to make the 3 types of rib, but thats for tomorrow, not at work again now till Monday so should get some real progress going on both Dawn Flyers. Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
I think I'd need a few washing machine motors to get that one in the air! I wonder if it would still work with a 3s lipo?
