Clifford Stone
Can anyone point me in the right direction. I need to make some special servo leads, 'JR plug type'. I have looked on fleBay, crimmpers are listed but as a type number, ie: 20PH, 2.5XH, JST servo conectors, I dont know which one is correct, if any? Anyone help with what I should be looking for? Thanks, CJS
Tim A
CJS, have a look at HK SKU 347000001 available in UK warehouse for US $14.97, I have a pair of them they work much better than ones I paid 3x the price for. Also have a look at the tutorial by Andy Green on here, **LINK** Somewhere on the old website I think there was a video by Pete Lowe showing how, just can't find it at the mo, maybe someone else can find it. crispin church
solder them and use small pointed pliers to bend crimps in get a lot better joint
Andy Green
Here are a pair from Als Hobbies. I wouldn't recommend soldering, this makes the joint hard, and could be a fracture point. One of the reason we use multi strand cables for our wiring. I know we all solder our battery and power connectors, but crimping is always better. Andy PS just noticed out of stock. Google is always your friend. Edited By Andy Green on 11/12/2013 09:39:
Gareth Bryant
Have used these for a while, brilliant! You can buy the crimpers on their own, or a kit with connectors/wire etc, either futaba or jr type.. **LINK**
Andy Green
They look like the one I use, but out of stock also. Looks like there has been a run on crimp tools. A
malcolm woodcock 1
I've always been on the lookout for a crimper that would work on battery balance plugs as well as servo plugs but so far no luck.
Bob Merrett
I too purchased mine from the same place as Gareth. Other places are asking twice the price.

Thanks KKF, ordered, should be here end of week, I pick up from the warehouse, only live round the corner, unfortunately, plugs out of stock, whats new with HK? I can source some plugs off FleBay to get the immediate job done. CJS

Tim A
Sometimes but not in this case Phil, the HK ones are heavy laminated steel of the racheting type. there would be no advantage spending a heap more on ones that do the same job. Used them to make up approx 20 servo leads, not had any fail yet. Save the money for something else you want.

Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
That HK Crimp tool looks pretty good.....does anyone know if it will work with Ashlok contacts??
Allan Bowker
I bought mine from eBay, the seller was ModelAccessories, they also have a website here Unfortunately they have been out of stock for a few weeks now, might be a good idea to give them a call. David P Williams
After reading this thread, and being fed up of everyone being out of stock of crimp tools, I ordered the HK one. Arrived today at looks the biz. Solidly built, nice ratchet action, seems every bit as good as the VERY expensive ones I used to use at work. John Privett
Posted by simpson j on 14/12/2013 16:24:19: Hi modelaccesssories.co.uk Good Presuming you mean modelaccessories.co.uk (with only 2 "s's" in the middle!) and were looking at these, then they're out of stock and they do look like very much more basic ones than the ratcheting type available elsewhere. I suppose they're 40p cheaper than the HK ones though!
John Privett
If anybody else is after the HobbyKing ones, then this is the link. However they're on backorder now. I seem to have bought the last one... oops!
