Glyn44
Thanks for reply but yep found all of those and more. They are all out of stock and have been for months. No idea if they can get any sock either, I rang two of them. Has the EU banned them, seems like it. Glyn

Glyn44
Hi Danny, Brilliant suggestion. Their website says in stock, hope it's true. I have had two "sorry website error" emails today blaming web errors. Thanks any way, let u know. Kind regards ...

Glyn44
Same old story at SLEC I'm afraid: " David Planes are currently out of stock & are out of stock at our suppliers. They are expected soon, but unfortunately this cannot be confirmed. Do you want us to hold the order until they are in stock or to have your order sent without the plane & spare blades?" I'll give up for now and borrow one from someone at the club.
Glyn44
halleluja, Found one! Actually spoken to shop owner and really has got a David plane and spare blades in stock. Posting them today. WolstonFlyer
Glad you found one! or how about something like this, it is more like a very small traditional block plane with a blade that you can sharpen http://www.tool-net.co.uk/p-410963/tool-net-72mm.html?gclid=CKmYrfqshMMCFTLJtAody1UALA Edited By WolstonFlyer on 08/01/2015 12:06:

kc
I wouldn't bother to buy one of those tiny planes they are no use for balsa. I have one ( a gift) and it's not worth using on balsa - hardwood maybe, violin making etc maybe. Balsa needs a thin ultra sharp blade set at a low angle, and needs to be wider. When a proper modelling plane is used on balsa the actual angle the blade meets the balsa can be decreased by skewing the plane at , say, 45 degrees to the cut which eases the cut through difficult bits of wood. ( if that does not seem right think about it! ) So wider is very handy. Get a proper balsa plane if you can find one. Why are they unobtainable here? The little planes often get sold with a matching miniature sliding bevel gauge, they are handy for aeromodelling. Glyn44
Ok point taken but for 7 quid gotta try one, for chamfering trailing edges, if it works ok, if not it'll come in handy some where I guess.

Michael Adams 3
I do hope your box was not damaged like mine, but nothing was broken luckily. I am just about to finish off my wings, just waiting for the D box glue to set, then a good sand and cover before joining all together. Then onto the fuz. WolstonFlyer
The box is perfect, it was stuffed full of newspapers and I think that helped.I have got a 5m roll of red and a 5m roll of yellow translucent covering just like the pictures of the original one.
