Tony Bennett
well i thought i would tackle some formers today. got 4 drawn up, but i need to build the nose next so i can extrapolate the first 2 formers before i draw them up. so i might be building the nose section over the weekend, the nose will be removable on the model anyway to make storage and transport easier. Tony Bennett
well the first job will be to cut the formers and keels. then have an offer up to see if it all fits together. then amend the plans if needs be and try again. then cut some templates to draw round for the final draft of the plan. Willowlea
This is the shackelton you are NOT building because you are NOT starting any new builds this year right? This is going to another of your brilliant builds Tony coca cola colours right?

Tony Bennett
there seems to be a lot of emotional attachment to this aircraft so i just hope i do it justice. no pressure then.
Peter Miller
Not sure that I have any emotional attachment. Servicing the things in cold, windy weather, doing 24 on, 24 off on excercise. Nah! Not really! Though I do have a few stories about them.

Tony Bennett
dont bother. the first trial run of the nose plans has gone wrong. got 1 former th wrong shape at the top and some of the stringer slots are not lining up right. nearly jumped on it out of frustration. oh well these things are sent to try us. Tony Bennett
not quite right, but i can fettle it to get it right. need to re draw a former to a better shape for when i build the other side.
Lindsay Todd
Blimey you don't hang around do you Tony, looks neat and logical, will be quite a model when its done. Linds
Tony Bennett
well i might scrap this nose later, depends on how well it turns out. any one want a Shackleton nose model for display purposes. quite cheap.

Tony Bennett
i need you cos, this is just the nose and it has taken a week to do the drawing and cut the parts and they still turned out not quite right. if i can get some plans done corectly, i can sort the build better and we can re hash the plans for the next one.
