Danny Fenton
Hi John and Martyn, the change in size was deliberate and was covered early on in the blogs. I cannot recall whom it was that asked originally. the four matching pieces are for the rudder and the eight matching are for the elevator. Cheers Danny Edited By Danny Fenton on 09/01/2015 17:03:
Martyn K
I should have asked..
Danny Fenton
I don't think it will matter tbh. The outer elevator ones will need tapering a bit due to the thickness of the control surface anyway, if i had seen that coming I would have made them tapered..... John Timmis
Thanks everyone. Thats sorted out that small point . Probably it didn't matter either way. I had assembled the wide ones to go in the rudder because they fitted the holes in the rudder post better than the holes in the tailplane spar. Thanks for the help. Andy Muckley
I wonder how many variations of wing fairings we'll see, because Danny's and Barry's are both a bit different to mine
john stones 1 - Moderator
Nowt wrong with a bit of individuality Andy John
Andy Muckley
Hi John, its a bit wrong at the trailing edge of it but looks good if you squint and like you say it's my bit of artistic licence
Andy Muckley
Ok so i keep looking at it and not really happy and if i'm going to to do this i may as well do it the best i can or what's the point of Danny and the rest of the blogger's bothering to get me to learn a bit of scale modeling. So i just took a leaf out of Danny's book and ripped the thing off and re-done it and i am now well pleased with the result and i think my problem was the ply parts G5 and they went in the bin as did Danny's . When i put it back on i found that you need to put the bottom sheet on first and the line of profile looks after it's self with the top sheeting. So glad i did this as this is a major feature of the chippy and if it's not right it's not right, so spend time here guy's it's worth it and only took me 45 minuets to put right but would have bugged me every time i looked at it
Chris Bott - Moderator
Oh dear, it's a slippery slope towards scale builders OCD Andy... (Only joking, sounds like a good decision - nice one)
john stones 1 - Moderator
Well I want to see some evidence it's right, lets have a picture or two John
Nev
Nice one Andy. Come on then, share, let's have some pictures, I haven't done mine yet.
Danny Fenton
Well done Andy, it always amazes me how easy something goes the second time, always the square root of the time I spend debating redoing a section. The more I look at my fairings the more I think they are wrong. So if yours are different then that's good
Nigel Day
Nor me. Sounds as though it'll be 'interesting'. (Good word that!)
Charles Galloway
I've just ripped off one side of the rear fairings. Had a bad dose of man flu over the holidays so made no progress, and when I looked at the fairing a couple of days ago, one TE was lower than the other by about 1/8". I'm sure it looked level when I did it!
Andy Muckley
Hi all ,i will try to put some pics up over the weekend and you can see my effort and the fairing's. Hi Chris, you may be right, i blame that Fenton fellow it's all his fault, but even though i wont be going all out on it i want to do a bit of detailing and the fairing just has to be right . I know Danny used blue modeling foam to do the curved bit of the fairing but what have or will others use ? i have some blue modeling foam so may use that. Hi John will try to get some pics up cheer's
Danny Fenton
Guilty as charged Balsa for the fairings will be fine Andy Cheers Danny

Andy Muckley
Hi Charles you won't regret re-doing it, as Danny said if it look's right it is, so just make it look right and you'll be a happy chippy
