Nigel Day
They're a little tricky John but a bit of filler and sanding sees them alright.

john stones 1 - Moderator
One side done, I have hollowed them out ala the real one needs a bit more out yet. Wing still fits in easy with the front dowels John
john stones 1 - Moderator
Rear of fairing needs reshaping though John
Nigel Day
Looks great John. Why the reshaping?
john stones 1 - Moderator
The rear t/e should be convexed a little after looking at Dannys latest pics. John
john stones 1 - Moderator
Other fairing glued up and a bit of sanding done on tother one. John
Nev
Fairing looks good John. It's the 1 bit I'm not looking forward too but you've done a good job.
john stones 1 - Moderator
It's easy Nev, I drew a line on the fuzz to work to and if your a bit out slap some filler on. Next job is elevator/rudder wire then I can glue it up John
Nev
I see everybody is getting a bit fired up again now it's getting to the interesting bits. I spent the afternoon helping my lad build a model of the local scout hut for his school project. Doesn't look as good as you're fairing but I had to let him do some of it. john stones 1 - Moderator
He can do me some new flap/ailerons can't be worse than ones I made John
john stones 1 - Moderator
I started some new flap/ailerons, I made the first ones too big and there was not enough meat on them to get em to fit
Nev
I seem to remember sanding all my riblets down to fit the outline which was a bit frustrating but they ended up ok, I think I got lucky. Still made them too long though and had to pack the tips off by 1/16th Won't take you long to make another set though the speed you build. Colin Leighfield
You will get this right John. It's certainly a build that makes you think and re-consider as you go along. I've been trying to work some of this out in my head (inevitably a slow process) but now have a chance for some real building time over the next four days, so hope to show some real progress by early next week. That is if I don't mess up.
john stones 1 - Moderator
I used my wing this time to get cap strips in line, and I figured out why the last didn't fit, they were 3/8 inch too deep/wide because I built to wrong line on plan. Nev
It's going to look the part John. I'm not sure all my ribs line up that well. If you're going to this much trouble now I'm looking forward to seeing the details going on. Nev.
john stones 1 - Moderator
Detail I am dreadful at Nev, I find the dainty stuff very difficult John
Nev
Well... I like to think I can do it and I do enjoy it but I wouldn't have the patience or the dexterity to go to the same lengths that Danny does and I have never tried anything on this scale before. But having got this far I think we're both going to have to give it a go. It can't be that hard surely
Danny Fenton
It's easy peasy chaps
