Kevin Fairgrieve
I have just fitted a LiPo as a RX battery. Is it safe to leave it in the model between sessions, or best to remove it? Obviously taking it out for charging. Kev
Paul Travis
Hi kev, I would remove it but it's up to you at the end of the day and also depends where you store your model I suppose. I too use a lipo to power my rx and always remove it into a metal storage case . Paul.
MikeS
Agree with removing the Lipo. I also use as a rx batt along with a bec and treat then no different to my flight Lipo. Mike
Frank Skilbeck
I leave mine in the plane then I don't forget it............................. But do remember to unplug it, a friend forgot and next time he came to use the plane the Lipo was completely flat.
Dickw
I leave mine in the plane as well. and charge them in there. With a tight squeeze down a narrow glider fuselage removing the battery/Rx/switch "brick" takes sevaral minutes, and getting them back in has been known to take 15 minutes of swearing to get the aerials back in the external guides on the carbon fuselage ones. Phil Green
Me too, I also leave it in the model and charge it there but my lipo rx packs are only single cells. Most documented lipo problems seem to have been during charging, so as long as you do it properly with regards to cell count, charge current, balancing, etc... I've never heard of one spontaneously combust in storage but you never know.... Wayne Giles once said there are two types of lipo users, those who've had fire, and those who haven't yet.
