Peter Miller
Onboard cameras are compulsory in Russia. You can see why. Having had some very near misses with idiots coming round corners on the wrong side of the road I have one. A good one with GPS and G meter. PLug the card into a computer and click map and you get the google map which shows the speed that you were doing at any part of the route. I have recorded some pretty insane driving too
Dave Hopkin
The dog legs it, you can just see him in the bottom left hand corner How the hell did that family not get killed when the car undertaking on the right took off its door.... John Privett
I've never worked out whether Russians really are more likely to drive like complete nutters than others, or whether we just see more evidence of it as they are more likely to have dashcams fitted. I'd never heard any claim that dashcams were compulsory - at least not legally compulsory. I thought they were common-place in Russia due to the number of 'crash for cash' scams, car hi-jackings etc. that apparently take place there. That clip was (not surprisingly) quite widely shown when it first appeared. I think it was on the BBC News website amongst other places. Andrew Price 2
In the UK the motorbike rider would have stayed prone - working out his probable compo whilst waiting for the ambulance!!
