Martin Harris - Moderator
As he's Dai not Die, I'd guess he hails from the lumpy land to the left of Ludlow. Fledermaus translates literally as flying mouse i.e. it's German for a bat. Edited By Martin Harris on 25/12/2014 21:29:

Dave Bran
Posted by Dai Fledermaus on 24/12/2014 20:10:22: I appreciate that the Mods move in mysterious ways their wonders to perform, but as the chap who started this thread can I ask what was the point in changing the title from Jen Engines Are No More to Just Engines own brand engines are no more? Was it done just because someone suggested it? It isn't as if the revised title adds anything to our understanding. Your original title was unclear and being read as the company Jen Engines were no more, which is incorrect, so IMO the MOD action was totally justified in the absence of correction by you. It hasn't changed your post for the worse, its not removed your intent, so a bite at the Mods and their work is not fair nor reasonable. With regard the glow engines sold by them under their own name, maybe three or four passed through our club. Apart from the critical sensitivity to Nitro, which caught at least one out by not reading the instructions (or not believing that they WOULD be that sensitive to fuel mix since most engines simply don't react that violently), they all seemed to be super critical to set up and inconstant. Perhaps one engine had an unfortunate owner, a chap who asks others to set up his engines of ALL makes since they "won't run right", but after they have been set up perfectly, at the first sign of a stutter throttling hard from cold or an inability to snap open the throttle after a minutes long idle, he'd be there twiddling everything in sight!! However, there WAS something about the breed that from observation made them erratic performers, and as others have said, by that experience they are no loss really. IMO those engines tended to denigrate a company who clearly have otherwise tried over the years to always do the best for their customers, and that's an increasingly small list! Paul Marsh
Well, the .37 I have in a fast model is spot on, starts almost first reverse flick, plenty of power and even at idle to full throttle is quick. THIS ENGINE IS SET UP! People blame their engine for being rubbish, when, in reality, just needs someone with a bit of nonce who knows what to do. 99% of engine problems stem from incorrect setup/fuel/plug/prop selection, and rarely is the engine "swearwordhere".
