Adrian Smith 1 Posted March 4, 2015 Share Posted March 4, 2015 I used to get small O-rings from ModelFixings to use with small screws for fixing cowls to the fuz or for attaching a canopy. However, I don't see any on their website any more. They stock 3 sizes of grommets but they are way too big. Any idea where I can source them from? Thanks. Engine Doctor Posted April 29, 2015 Share Posted April 29, 2015 Try using thin neoprene tubing ,the type used for air retract to make you cowling grommets from. First fit you cowl and make sure your happy with positioning having drilled holes that are just clearance for the screws Now remove all screws an fit a cut length of the tubing to the screws. The length needs to be the thickness of the cowling plus 2mm. Now push or screw this up to the head of the screw. Drill the holes in the cowling for a snug fit on the tubing when fitted to the screw. Screw up and the neoprene will slide through the hole and as it compresses it makes shoulder both sides of the cowling. It also protects the screw and cowling from the effects of any vibration stopping screws from loosening. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
