kc
Whilst that's a prompt and practical way to overcome the problem whilst noise testing, it won't help a prop flying off when flying and causing injury. I would have expected by now that the BMFA would have informed us more about the multi bolt prop hub and engine involved. In particular what type of bolts should, or should not, be used ( high tensile? ) or whether multi bolt hubs should be inspected before every flight etc. If the BMFA don't know yet what caused this failure perhaps they should ban these hubs until a safe solution is found? ( there is a bit of information on this matter on page 4 & 5 of the latest BMFA News )

They do not make the law, what is in the handbook are only recommendations as to safe practice and references to the relevant stuff we do need to comply with i.e CAP658 etc. Multi bolt hubs are not new and are not failing left right and centre, so let's implement some additional pragmatic precautions during noise tests and leave it at that. PeterF
The link says tests have been conducted but only refers to attenuation on noise transmission. What about tests to check that this net is suitable for catching a spinning prop as it is being promoted for that purpose.
