fly boy3
Hi all, I need an alternative servo for a Futaba 148. I need a smaller size to drive a throttle linkage. Can anyone specify one. I have always used Fut 148;s on throttle but always thought it was a bit of overkill, but I could be wrong. Thanks,
Mowerman
I have used 9 gram servos on throttle (glow engines up yo .46) with no problems.
Keith Berriman
I would use a 19 gram servo is about the right range like the E Max ( EMAX ES3104 Metal Gear ) around £7 then add P&P Using any less in grams is vulnerable for loss of control on a vital item Edited By RC Plane Flyer on 10/11/2015 18:43:
flight1
if you are going to use a smaller servo for your glow model make shore its got metal gears due to the small gears and amount amount of vibration strain on the gear train . hi tec 82mg or the emax as posted above is a good choice
fly boy3
Thanks lads, forgot to say the model has an Os 46 up front. Thanks for the heads up for metal gears. cheers
john stones 1 - Moderator
Loads of suitable ones on Hobby King FB3, buy two just in case, they don't cost much. John
Don Fry
Just a thought, but why is a pastic gear train poorer to vibration stress.
Shaunie
I'm using a 9g servo on a Ripmax Jive with a TT46 in the front. I had one strip gears but it was a heavy face plant where I was expecting at the least a broken engine mount, otherwise I've had no problems despite some quite heavy arrivals. Denis Watkins
A correctly fitted, and adjusted servo, is as you know suspended within rubber grommets screwed through to wooden bearers and suffers very little vibration. Also, a soft mounted IC motor exhibits less vibration and less noise, than hard mounting, though you still get the " real " sound of the reciprecating engine. Andy Green
Here's the servo (9g) mount on my Limbo dancer: Have used this method several times all without issue. (So far) Andy Edited By Andy Green on 14/01/2016 16:48:
