Dom (Essential RC)
Flown gracefully in the hands of Dave Johnson at LMA Cosford yesterday. If you are within travelling distance it's worth the trip to this fantastic show. This was just one of many fantastic models on display. Josip Vrandecic -Mes
Dear Dom , thank you very much to you and the guys who made this magnificent model. You brought me back to youth in 1965 when I'm saw the movie Thunderball with Sean Connery as James Bond, unforgettable Avro Vulcan and landing at sea.... now I know it was in the pool, but that did not diminish the experience. All the best Jo Edited By Josip Vrandecic -Mes on 17/07/2016 20:35:

Trevor Crook
Fabulous model, brillantly flown, although I didn't see any of the trademark 90 degree-plus banks that the full-size used to do. This is understandable with such a large and valuable model at a public show. Does anyone know why the take-off was on tarmac but the landing on grass? I would have thought that the tarmac would be kinder to the u/c but perhaps a LMA type can explain why not.
Trevor
Perhaps because it doesn't have the parachute braking system that the full size needs in order to stop before running out of runway?!
Chris Walby
I would have thought grass will have more drag so once its down it will stay down + grass is a bit softer than solid tarmac in case it was a harder landing that expected.
Martin Harris - Moderator
Certainly more draggy, Chris but I suspect that undercarriages are stressed less on tarmac than on grass unless it's of bowling green standard.
