Tom Flynn 1
just making a comment, I decided to get a few stored aircraft down and clean up and maybe fly them in this ridiculous weather. I Can’t believe how saggy and wrinkled the profilm has become in this heat. They look rather sad in that state.the iron will be working overtime. FlyinBrian
Are you sure it is Profilm AKA Oracover, I have models six years old with the covering still fine although I have had to stick down the odd edge here and there. Solarfilm ontoh lifts and wrinkles terrible in the heat. Oh I find it best to use the minimum heat when covering with Profilm
Geoff S
Why does covering tend to wrinkle and sag in hot weather? As the usual means of tightening film is a hot iron or a heat gun, you'd expect warm weather to have the opposite effect. Geoff
Gary Manuel
Yes Geoff - I've had the same thought. You would think that leaving them out in the sun all day would be the same as running a hot iron over them.
john stones 1 - Moderator
Maybe it's not down to the film entirely, maybe model gets smaller.

It must affect my car the same way then, cos I still struggle to fit the smaller models in.
