Peter Yates
Morning all.A long time lapsed flyer here,I last tool the controls 20+ years ago as a youngster.Dad and I still have all our gear, half-finished models and bits n bobs. I'm slightly getting the urge to fly again, but before I go crackers I'm going to hang around here a wee bit, and see how much the kit has changed since I was a nipper.Cheers, Pete. Denis Watkins
Well done Peter for coming back The gear may have changed somewhat But Lift and Drag has not Neither has the model aeroplane or the surfaces to fly it So don't be put off by the initial surge of new tech
SIMON CRAGG
Welcome back! Best bet would be to visit your nearest club, and catch up on whats new. A lot has changed in 20 years!

Old Geezer
I agree with all the above - especially visiting your local club's field, but also any other clubs 30-40 minutes drive ( or more ) away from home - we're still a pretty disparate crowd, and each club has it's own different feel. Waste as much time as you can on the net too - it's got to be the quickest way to immerse yourself in all the changes since you last flew. A final tip, we're almost at the end of the bring & buy season, a visit to one will give you some idea of what's going on locally and you might pick up something to get you in the air at modest ( sometimes very modest ) cost which you won't mind bending a time or two while you get into the swing again - much less disheartening than re-kitting your first new plane in 20 years. ( That's what I did when I came back - worked brilliantly for me. )
