kc
Let's hope it does not catch on! The idea of having parking places on public roads which only allow parking for these vehicles will badly affect ordinary car owners. Also those driving vehicles they don't own will not care if they damage those vehicles with careless parking or dangerous driving. ( rather like many company car drivers) If you want to hire a car go to Hertz, Avis etc, if you want a taxi take a taxi - don't clog up the parking spaces with these car club vehicles. Frank Skilbeck
These car sharing systems are already in operation in many parts of the UK. Lets many people who don't need to use a car every day and only want if for a few short trips a week to share a car, rather than multiple people having to own a car, leaving their cars parked up blocking the streets. cymaz
London has a tube system! Jo and I spent a couple of days in London before Christmas. Both of us had Oyster cards ...easy. I can see the attraction but in major cities there are trams, buses and taxis. In the wild South West. Where the buses run infrequently and the train in really nonexistent, we need something,as taxis cost a second mortgage. Though as this is not a metropolis they will never venture down here. cymaz
I can in some parts of the country it will have a use. Did you see ( I think it was the One Show) the piece about some Uber drivers not taking Guide Dogs.....that’s a disgrace.

leccyflyer
Enterprise has a similar car club in Edinburgh with various parking spaces dotted about the city and a small fleet of cars doing the rounds. Seems like a good idea for those who might need a car in the city for a day or two - as the parking space is vital to making the system work. However the users need ediucating on the parking as their spaces -prominently marked - are immediately adjacent to parking spaces for Solo motorcycles only and the car club members routinely park next to the sign, ignoring the 18" high Solo M/Cs only signs painted on the space - to then get ticketed by the traffic wardens. I've seen the same car collect three tickets in two days, and other cars collect at least one - all whilst the actual designated parking space sits empty.
