Richard Acland
I have recently inherited what appears to be a fairly new Thunder Tiger GP 42, which I have now installed in a model. Is the air bleed carb easy to set up ( what is a good starting point) and is this a reliable engine
J D 8 - Moderator
Try it where it is to start, may be correct. Setting up is much the same as a twin needle except the turns are reversed. Get the main needle set first then close the throttle. Open up and it picks up smoothly you are fine, if it dies screw in air bleed and if it splutters on pick up but then goes screw out the air bleed. Make little adjustments
Mike T
Posted by Richard Acland on 01/07/2019 23:12:11: ... is this a reliable engine I have one in my favourite hack, a Precedent Funfly. It's over 20 years old...
Martin Harris - Moderator
Usual starting point is where the needle tip is half way across the bleed hole. Then adjust as per J D 8's advice...

Richard Acland
Thanks for the replies. The reason I wanted to check was that this engine is not " out of the " box" so I dont know if it has been fiddled with.
Andy Hat
A handy tip I was given by an old chap: (with the engine not running) set to low throttle, fit some tubing on the fuel feed. Blow down the tube whilst adjusting the bleed valve. You can 'feel' the resistance and set the valve so you're able to just get enough air through.
