SIMON CRAGG
Does anybody know of a stand alone variometer? Ideally, something that is powered by a seperate rx battery, and sends the height to a seperate display on the ground. Something basic only!. Might be asking too much I know. Frank Skilbeck
Used to be quite common before telemetry, look up Picolario. There's one for sale on scalesoaring.co.uk at the moment.

FlyinFlynn
Guess it's too late but here is a development on the DIY arduino vario that Steve J linked, instead of using a 433MHz tx/rx to get the data to the ground it uses the audio channel on the video downlink transceiver, which is quite often unused. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLIa_OXW3DQ Edited By FlyinFlynn on 25/07/2019 16:40:
