Matt Carlton
Hi chaps, Has anyone had any success printing graphics onto the self adhesive vinyl available for home printing? I'm a little concerned about how well the ink will 'stick' to the glossy surface. Obviously I'll need to brush a clear coat over the top to fuel proof, but I'm also not too sure about UV fading. If it's a no go, does anyone know of a reasonably priced service online? Basically a couple of small logos, so a single A4 sheet would cover it. Peter Miller
I have done some and it works very well.IT is the special Ink jet self adhesive vinyl and I did logos for the fin of a model. The fin, the vertical reg on the rudder and the name along the nose of the model
Capt Kremen
Did the 'US Army' lettering and the wing insignia on this SIG LT-25 with vinyl inkjet. Just ensure you seal them well and no problems.
Matt Carlton
Excellent, thankyou. Just what I was hoping. Peter - is that the original size AD or an enlargement. Another on my to do list after the LS Special and Tequila Sunrise! That's very smart Capt. Colours look a lot more vivid than I thought they might. I am suitably inspired! kc
There seems to be various brands available - any particular one that you recommend? Is it necessary to seal if it's used on an electric model?
Ronaldo
Yes need to be sealed on all models as I find the ink is not waterproof, can even be smudged with moisture from fingers. I spray a lacquer on all mine.
gangster
These work well I usually give them a few light coats of clear laquer. The only issue have had is them curling up after time. The water slide transfers work well but are a bit translucent

If you down load a design from Google and paste it onto a normal document you can enlarge it to suit the size you need.
Matt Carlton
That's the plan Peter. I have some suitable logos and things downloaded which I hope will look in keeping. Got some others lined up for 'Sponsorship' for the LS Special too. Sneak peak...
kc
Gangster, you seem to have been suggesting a particular material but gave no info or link!
Dickw
I have been using the the inkjet printable sheets from GMCrafts - look for the "self adhesive" & "plastic film" sheet versions. After printing I give it a coat of clear lacquer to keep the ink waterproof. On my TN Gnat I used white film for the roundels and warning triangles, and clear film for the numbers.
