Messerschmitt M-19 (Civilian)

I have started on the wing now, and have just about sorted all the pieces out, so I know what they are and where they go.

Just got to check the instructions to see the order they go in, as this is not apparent from the plan.

The fuselage after primary sanding, still loads to do here, but I need covering first.

I have now added the Spruce reinforcement to the main Spar and constructed the undercarriage bearers from ply. These are normally chunky hardwood blocks.

I have also missed out a balsa former, I will attempt to retro fit it somehow, as it does add support to the Rx mount.

Waiting for glue to dry is almost as boring as watching paint dry.

I made a start on the wings today to find that one of the trailing edge spars, where the aileron hinges is mis-cut.

So first a repair was needed. A bit naughty on a new kit but easily fixed with a strip of timber and my trusty plane.

OK. Might have got a bit further, except for a call out at work. Hey Ho.

All the bottom sheeting and trailing edge is laid out, and glued in, the rib cappings too. I don't normally do it this way but that's the instructions.

I had to plane a little off the centre section main spar to make it flat to receive the bottom sheeting. This needs to go on before I proceed with the wing.

I changed all the tubes in my workshop to daylight tubes this afternoon, it's a big improvement.

Still following, Dwain.  ?

I must still have an Atom Compass 500 somewhere in the attic.

To be honest I never really had a passion for helis but I inherited it in an early combo deal...

Must find it back and sell it as a good reputation 'vintage' heli.

Cheers & stay safe, young man

Chris

Bottom sheeting all trimmed around the centre section and ready to go.

I found the only way to go was to put the ribs in to see what lined up with what, as you cannot see the plan with the bottom sheeting on.

However, if you squint closely there are very tiny lines to follow, when adding the outer ribs.

It all went well, and I now have half a wing and one aileron finished, bar the top sheeting.

A 3 mm shim is required for washout under the tip before sheeting.

Also the servo has to be fitted, this will be unreachable without surgery later, so I am making the usual servo hatches.

When you have fitted a new blade, don't drop your knife and try to catch it.     LOL

I have made one of the servo holders and hatches, one in the same really, and made the frame for it to sit in. All I have to do now is add the little triangle pieces to take the screws.

The C.A. I am using seems to react with my usual plastic sheeting, weird. You can see it stuck to the airframe. Ah well, more sanding. LOL

This morning I plucked up the courage to add the top sheeting to the wing, I taped the servo in place just in case.

I also added the extension lead and the lead lock.

I forgot to transcribe the shape onto the third piece to make life easier on the second wing. ?

Anyway the application went as smoothly as it could, I added the 3mm of washout.

The process was made slightly more awkward with the two spars sticking out the port side.

I also dampened the sheet from the aileron out, where it was thinner.

D.D.

Don't forget to leave a bit of slack for access.

A nice relaxing day today, went to a local garden centre and bought some things, took mothers day pressy to Mother as it's her Birthday next Tuesday, she is 85. ?

Then a couple of hours in the workshop making the last skin and servo hatch. Final capping was added also.

Tomorrow will be the leading edges, false and real, and perhaps the centre top sheeting.

D.D.
