Michael Adams 3
Could some one please help me, I have a Spektrum DX6i set up, I have fitted lights but do not know how to set up a switch to turn them on and off. Would the gear switch work ??. And how to set it into the Transmitter and receiver, also which channel to use. All help will be most appreciated. Thank you. Denis Watkins
You can assign Ch5 or Ch6 switch Michael, that are marked Flap and Gear, but surely the device in the model chooses the number. Your chosen Channel will need Activating in the menu It may be Inhibited marked INH Activated shows ACT
Frank Skilbeck
Michael, I assume you have a lighting control unit on the plane. Check the servo monitor to see which channel is working when you use the gear switch, note you might have to adjust the channel travel to make your lighting controller work, which lighting controller are you using. Simon Chaddock
Michael On a DX6i the Gear and Flap switches are already assigned to channel 5 and 6 (aux) respectively. You can see this visually with the 'Monitor' function when you activate the Gear or Flap switch. You could use either channel as long as you are not using them for anything else.😉 Simply plug your light controller into your chosen channel on the receiver. By default you will see that activating the switch causes the signal to go to the mid point rather than full travel. Such a change is normally sufficient to activate most controllers but it can be altered if required. I hope this helps.

Simon Chaddock
Michael I note that most GT Power lighting systems are for RC vehicles. Is that what you are using it for? Not my field of interest but they have features suited for that purpose, indeed it appears some require no extra channels at all and work in conjunction with the existing controls. gangster
I have never had anything to do with lighting control circuits but if the system works on a switch on the TX surely there is no difference between Futaba, Spektrum or any other radio. Try a servo in that channel and see if it responds to the switch.

Try a servo in the channel as Gangster notes, also try adjusting the servo travel, it maybe that the default settings aren't enough to trigger the operation and you need to change the setting in the servo travel menu. Frank Skilbeck
Are these the lights you have, you'll see on this video he's using a Spetrum radio and receiver so you light s should work. I also just checked my Dx6i and the travel adjust goes up to 125% (in each direction) so try that.
