Keith Billinge
I have a dream of building a small B29 or B17 using drone motors and ESC's. I'd like to get a semi-scale plan or kit I can build or modify, to fit four 2205 drone motors which I have in my spares box and which will push a 5x4 or 6x4 prop using 4x 30A Drone ESC's. Doesnt need to be super scale just a fun belly lander. I expect the model will need to have a wingspan around 1100mm (43-44inches) and be quite light. I have no experience in scratch building, so I'd like a reasonable plan or perhaps a kit I can modify. I picked the B29 as a preference because it has simple outlines and not too many complex shapes to model. It may be that it would be easiest to cut some foam blanks, But I've never done any "foam stuff" being brought up on balsa. Anyone know of such a plan or small kit? Any advice will be gratefully received. Keith B Edited September 5, 2022 by Keith Billinge Stupidity
Paul De Tourtoulon
You can go much bigger this is my Lancaster pink foam kit bought in the UK for 4 drone motors around 1.80m with electric retracts.
martin collins 1
The used to be a kit for a hand launch B29, i had one years ago, it was made by Titanic airlines i think (stands to be corrected), here is a pic, it flew very well on 4 speed 400 motors, that shows you how long ago they were available! kc
There is a B17 plan by Pavel Bosak on Outerzone which uses four 3.5cc engines Maybe print the plan at a reduced size if it's too big. But first get some opinions on equivalent motors to 3.5cc to see if your motors would suit. as a larger model will fly better.
kc
If you want the article on foam construction by Chris Golds I will let you have the pdf copies. Basically he hot wire cuts foam ( or it can be shaped by coarse new glasspaper very easily ) then covers with brown paper and PVA.

That uses 2830 motors and is a heavy old beast....I want to do something on a smaller and simpler scale. KB
kc
Whilst looking for something else I noticed that Vortex Vacform offer nacelles and cowl for a B17 and also a Lancaster ( not sure which plan though ) - these are the tricky bits for 4 engine models. Or maybe you can 3D print your own?
