neil Mclean
Hi all, just wondering if there were any conversion leads which would say convert a Futaba servo lead plug to a Spektrum type plug. Or is it a case of remaking the lead with the appropriate plug to suit the receiver. TIA
leccyflyer
It's just a case of taking a sharp blade and trimming off the extra tab on the side of the Futaba plug. It also helps if you then run the blade down the edge of the plig, to take away the sharp corner. Quicker to do than to write it out.
Allan Bennett
The Futaba style plug has a ridge along one edge which prevents it being plugged into a Futaba slot the wrong way round. The ridge can be cut off carefully with a sharp knife to permit it to fit into any other slot. FYI plugging in the wrong way round won't cause any damage -- the servo simply won't work until it's plugged in right way round.

john stones 1 - Moderator
Or you could buy the Spektrum/JR type plug, lift the little tags on your Futaba ones and simply replace.

My observation is that some plugs have different style tags, so they might not latch onto the pins properly if they're not the right ones. John Lee
I've just done half a dozen of them using a quality (Knipex) flush faced side cutter which nipped the tags off in a second.
Simon Chaddock
Although the retaining tags are a different length they are compleely interchangeable. The same insert works just as well in either plug body. The longer tags are much easier to lift a bit with a fine blade to remove the insert.
