Well this is helpful: ( Galaxy Foxjet from Pegasus)

Recommended Posts

Look, I know a modeller is supposed to be able to do maths but I don't expect to have to resize a plan or in this case it's measurements, like it's an article from RM back in 1975. I'd quite like to have a full size plan so I can transfer the former positions with some extended lines, in 30 seconds, rather than have to mess about with a ruler and a calculator. And if the instructions say I have some laser cut formers thus avoiding the need to get out the calculator again, then I would like to have the things. Which I don't.

Yes none of the work is overly onerous, but it simply shouldn't be necessary. It's SHODDY.

Very disappointing, especially for a kit made this year. I have contacted Pegasus for comment.

Oh this is a brand new kit, not old stock. The delivery was fast and I have no complaints about that side of things - There was a facility on the Pegasus website to be informed when they had stock, this worked and I ordered the kit to recieve it a coupe of days later. Great. Of course what's in the box...not so much, sadly.

From memory, and it is a long time ago when I built mine, you only have 3 formers. One is the engine bulkhead, the second goes under the LE and the third under the TE. The wing cut out is already formed in the laser cut parts so no measuring is really required is it? Personally I would treat the plans as ‘indicative’ only, not for building over.

PS still got my Foxjet but converted it to leccy a few years ago.

Perhaps printing of the ‘plan’ to a different size to the model is to make it more difficult to use the plan to cut your own kit of parts?

Otherwise I can see so reason to print it larger than the actual model.

Looking at the photos, all of the parts look to have straight edges, so could be easily cut from a couple of sheets of balsa with just a few measurements. You would still need the foam wings though.

It does look as though Pegasus have forgotten to include the two laser cut formers that, in the original Galaxy Models version, were balsa as shown on the ‘plan’.

Yes, someone probably just forgot to put them in the box.

Had the plan been printed to the correct size, Stuart could have built them as Galaxy intended from 1/8” x 1/2” balsa with no faffing about.

Laser cutting does seem a bit of overkill for such a simple model.

Maybe it was a error at the printer and nobody at Pegasus noticed?  Its easy to have the scale at something other than 100%.

One place I worked had a huge open plan office with all the printers in the centre.  Someone decided to print out an ebay listing, but sent it to the A0 plotter by mistake.  What should have been about five pages of A4 was about twenty feet of paper on the floor.  No one was in a hurry to claim it. 🙂

Why don’t you pop them an email Stuart, telling them to send you the correct sized plan and a couple of the missing formers while they are at it? They will probably be pleased to hear from you as no doubt all the kits in the recent product run are like it.

I don’t believe they did it on purpose and it won’t do their reputation any good.

Hi Piers, I already have done, and youre right I don't think anyone does this sort of thing on purpose 🙂 It just feels shoddy and not what one would expect. They certainly know there's an issue now. I have worked around the plan and made up ( and installed ) the formers anyway and the fus should be done later today - it wasn't a massive delay just not the experience I was expecting or looking forward to. The model will still fly and will be going to Ponte next month.

Well, here is where I am so far, a bit of work earlier before going out, It'll be ready for Ponte along with the Mini Robot and a Cardinal. ( despite my glacial building speed )

As far as covering goes, I am considering tissue and dope because I like the look of it and it seems...right I suppose. Anyway, after some fettling here it is so far:

Thinking about colour schemes, I quite like the RAF Raspberry Ripple but might just go either RAF trainer red/grey/ white or something involving dark metallic red and silver. I will see what I feel like when I come to finish it. It's going to be electric on 3s.
