Adrian Smith 1
I am on my second project with twin engines and decided to fit on-board glows to both engines and I really welcome some feedback on a reliable piece of kit. I am using two OS 52 four strokes by the way.
Martin Harris - Moderator
I have 2 models with the "Glowswitch" units from South Herts Models - they also do a dedicated twin unit. Neither have ever given a moment's trouble and are economical on battery power as they only activate when needed. Great for easy starting without having to poke around for the glowplug, reliability and you can get a really low tickover as a bonus. http://www.southhertsmodels.co.uk/IGs.htm
Adrian Smith 1
Thanks Martin - I always like to hear the users' view rather than the advertising hype. Will check them out.
Myron Beaumont
Now that is a really useful "must have ". Especially with a new engine that needs a variety of settings until fully run in & reliably set for good Question ? How much ??
Nik Harrison
I'd would also recommend South Herts Models. Used both their single and twin units with great success. Worth every penny.Nik
Engine Doctor
Hello Adrian. I have used SM Services glowswitch with a 160 twin with ghreat success . Very easy to set up and very reliable. It works purely on the throttle position (adjustable) . E.D.
Doug Ireland
The ones from "Just Engines" are well worth considering. As above, it works via the throttle channel and is proportional to stick position. As the throttle is advanced it reduces power to the glow plug. It also shuts off completely when the engine "kill" switch it used; no need for a separate isolator switch.

Adrian Smith 1
Thanks guys for your input. I have plumped for the South Herts Models set up and looking at the wiring diagram it seems straightforward for an ignoramous such as me. Given the challenge of flying a twin aircraft the last thing I need to worry about is an engine quitting on me.
