  1. Just learned about this from a Facebook post via Nigel Huxtable (Red Bull Breitling Team). Terrible news, a massive loss to all and will be sorely missed in the Red Bull Air Race. Red Bull said in a statement that the Austrian pilot died in a helicopter crash in the Alps. The 48-year-old was flying back from a mountain hut in the Grossglockner area of Carinthia, in eastern Austria, when his helicopter struck a cliff late Thursday. A passenger was also seriously injured. This is Hannes last Facebook post, only a few hours before the fateful journey. Edited By Allan Bowker on 09/09/2016 19:26:30
  2. Truly amazing Essjay to be able to navigate round the shop with just your mouse to move yourself around. Holding down the left mouse button whilst moving the mouse allows you to turn on the spot. **LINK** Edited By Allan Bowker on 31/08/2016 23:14:30
  3. I managed to make the pilgrimage to this shop earlier this year and took this photo. It's well worth going out of your way to pay a visit, I was made to feel very welcome by Ali Snr, he even made me a coffee (a first for me in a model shop!). I was happy to find a well stocked traditional model shop, full of new and more traditional models, as well as few bargains tucked away at the back. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, I look forward to visiting again. For anyone interested in competition history, some of Ali Jnr's trophies are in there too in a few cabinets (must be at least 100 cups and medals). A real Aladin's cave!
  4. Awesome project and fantastic early results by look of things, well done Tony! I would image there are some limitations as to how fast each EDF unit can speed up and slow down to maintain the hover. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
  5. Sorry to learn that news, amazing contributions to the forum.
  6. See you all in August then Jim promised "it's going to be blazing". Let's hope he meant the weather and not one of my Li-Po's
  7. Great to see, I made it on Saturday and Sunday, shame about the wind putting so many off flying. Harry and I had a great time flying the MXS-R & Pulse XT60 Will be back to Greenacres in August, see you there!
  8. Heat from an ESC is not that unusual, however before you fix that you need to find out why the battery and receiver are getting hot, this should not be the case! A hot (and possibly puffed) battery suggests you are discharging the cells too rapidly. Do you have a watt meter and the specifications of the motor?
  9. I would second iqon's suggestion of Weston UK. They can custom modify or make to your spec.   Edited By Allan Bowker on 15/07/2016 15:56:45
  10. Very interesting Allan, I like it a lot. Please tell us more.
  11. Hello Ron I haven't had any time to progress this little project myself so far, I was hoping a few people might pick up the baton and run with it. We do need a circuit diagram for those of us who want to run higher power LED's and we need somebody to work on the original code I posted so that the lights can be controlled from the transmitter. I have seen some solution examples online when originally Googling around the web. Anyone else up for the challenge?
  12. It's always worth looking at Andy Green's Model Database or his Electric Flight Database There is an AcroWot MkII listed but IC and not Electric Maybe you could contribute your final electric setup?   Edited By Allan Bowker on 24/03/2016 14:59:16
  13. Hi Ben, I'm fairly local to you. I will drop you a PM.
  14. It keeps pecking the ground on landing? Must be because it's a Seagull model!
  15. Plusnet for me, customer service is very good and their network is quick. Zen are the best, but you will pay for the privilege. I tried Sky for a year but they do not allow you to use your own router (which for was a problem) and their network is not as good as Plusnet. Sky and TalkTalk use their own equipment at the exchange and tend to have a high contention ratio (swamped with subscribers). Most ISP's are BT wholesale resellers unless you are in an area where a company has its own independent telecoms network (like Virgin Media). Edited By Allan Bowker on 23/02/2016 14:00:09
  16. Thanks Kevin, good to see that my reputation is still intact (as a bad man!) Your work sounds impressive, I'm looking forward to seeing other people's versions. I hope you can all teach me a thing or two soon, keep up the good work
  17. For Windows 7 you should be able to extract (unzip) a file by right clicking on the .zip and select extract all. (as shown here)
  18. Here is the source thread of the code guys. Let me know how you progress.
  19. Sorry John, it's not my code, it's somebody else's that I used. Seems as though there is a better way of wiring this up? I will try and find the original source and post a link.
