  1. Forgot to say that I reinforced the undercarriage plate and front bulkhead with triangle balsa stock. As I use it all the year round and fly from a grass strip, I fitted large wheels. It has fulfilled its purpose as a rugged plane for use in all conditions. In answer to your question at the beginning of the thread. It depends on how much time you have. If you have the time the kit would be the best option as you can choose your hardware and covering material (I used solartex). If not the ARTF and electric conversion kit would save a lot of time. Surprisingly there is not much difference in weight between the Kit and ARTF versions. Which ever one you choose you will enjoy flying it. JM Whatever your choice
  2. I have an old ARTF that I did up. The 5cell 3700mAh battery fits though a hatch on the front, it fits on a sloping ramp (see attach picture). The recommended 4max motor was used with a 14x7 prop (I did try 4 cell, but personally it was underpowered). I get 10 minutes flight time. Hope you find this helpful. JM
  3. As no one has replied I will have a go. I do not have the quad in question but I have experience of other whoops .Looking at the information and videos on you tube, there are two ways to record a flight 1 - using a card in the quad, this type normally starts automatically 2 - Using the goggles. The issue could be the format of the card. You might have to format it in the goggles. I had a set of googles that would only work if the card was formatted in the googles. I have looked around the internet and there is not much about this package. JM
  4. I have a few models to do. A old ARTF WOT4 to recover and repair A 72 inch Lancaster to finish off. A Tony Nijhuis TA-154 Moskito to finish. JM
  5. **LINK** I built one a few years ago. See attached link. I used 4 cells and about 600 watts. Flew quite well. Following with interest. JM

DB Scale Models do a plan pack for a Scout biplane which looks similar to a Flair SE5a Link. Might be worth you looking into it. Regards JM
  7. The bits I ordered recently came in two weeks. In the past (before lockdown) it used to take a month on average. I have never had a problem with bangood myself, items have always arrived in the end. Even if they have taken the slow boat. Regards JM
  8. I have recently brought one and am in the process of setting it up. First impressions are good. One little thing the I like is that all the switches are labelled, unlike some Frsky transmitters. If you do not know open TX prepared for a steep learning curve. There are a few videos on on you tube. Try painless360. The reason why I got mine is for training. With a 4 in one module, you should be able to It use as a master radio With any radio as a slave. At the moment I have it set up as a master with a spectrum DX7 as slave. I have still got a few things to do before I going flying. Will report back next week once I use it. JM
  9. Looks good, pleased to hear that the first flight went well. JM
  10. That looks a nice glider DaveB1. I struggled with open TX on my glider until I discovered this site. It might be a bit late for you but there is a lot of information here Link. Hope you find it useful. JM
  11. Generally 20 mph is the maximum for me, but that does depend on the model. I have a 1.75m Hotliner that copes with 20mph with no problems and is enjoyable to fly, this is with no turbulence. Saying that we have woods nearby that can cause a lot of turbulence and when the wind is from that direction you cannot fly at all. JM
  12. I believe the models in question are by Peter Miller the Easter Eagle and Easter Eagle Senior Link. Thread Hope this helps.   JM Edited By J Moyler on 26/05/2020 17:45:34
  13. What may help as well is flying a whoop which is a micro fpv drone. These are small quads that you can fly round the house. These are cost from £50 to £90 for a Bind and fly. They weigh less then 40 grams. The one I currently fly is the Happy Models Mobula 6. As these quads are so light they are hard to damage. Flying FPV will help you but I think lying LOS is a skill you should have in my opinion. This’ is the advantage of fly a whoop because it is nearly impossible to break one. 14. Well done. I like the way your strip was rolled. If it needs doing you might as well do it properly. If we did that at our club I think every member would turn up to watch. JM
