  1. Hello, i am looking at trying to learn how to design OR transfer drawings to be cut or printed etc. I have seen guys use a mouse or pen/stylus etc and i think i would be better with a tablet +pen. Ihave seen Wacom and intuos mentioned which can be very expensive. i have seen a tablet advertised local of good size BUT i have no idea if it can be used for cad/design,it just says drawing. its made by gaomon and the mk10 pro model, as more buttons than the wacom i have seen, can i use this?

Does it occur to anyone that the 'cheap' aftermarket print cartridges are cheap for a reason? Yes, printer OEMs charge more for their chipped cartridges, and yes, they want to make a profit. Part of their problem is that people buy the printer, stick cheapo cartridges in it then expect the OEM to sort out any issues under warranty caused by bad ink. Hence the chips. In my experience some cheap cartridges can work OK, but the majority cause more problems than they solve, are usualy actually contain half the ink than a real one has, then cost more money in the long run. No such thing as a free lunch... Who is after a free lunch? A "non" Canon is £19 a Canon is £25, how is £19 a free lunch? When Tesco as them is stock they print to me just like Canon BUT I am printing "normal" home stuff NOT high quality photo`s. If I want to run unbranded ink in my printer I paid for I should be able to without the thing making it hard for me. I don't have to own brand oil in my car, if I put Halfords oil in my Bentley it wont tell me its wrong or cheap. Printer ink is a con full stop. If their ink was so good and the so called "cheap free meal ones" rubbish no one would buy the unbranded BUT they DO because most people who don't need photo quality etc , see no difference.

  4. Thanks for the info, might give a model from Epsom a go. Its not so much the cost of the ink that gets me,its the way that the printer, in my case Canon MG3650 will not except a after market cartridge and work ok. It tells me it not genuine,i have to "reset" the thing each time its turned on and every print I have to click a box/window to permit it to print. This cartridge fits a number of models and perhaps some do not suffer as much.Ebay sell a gadget that "programmes" the chip in the unbranded cartridge, shows how much of a pain this
  5. Can anyone recommend a brand of printer that will print with "non brand" refills? I went over to Kodak because it was said the running costs were cheap, they seemed cheap because the refills were cheap BUT very small! So got fed up with that and went over to Canon, these will not run on without there own refills, this whole ink think is a joke. I bought a printer and this canon will not work if it decides the cartridge is "low"!!!!! and its mine!!!! I paid for it. So going to try something else, dont print a lot BUT if I want to run it with refills for non important stuff I should be able to. I had a HP which was the same as the Canon. Thinking about buying a £25 printer everytime and throwing away each time, even with the small supplied ink ,it will be cheaper than the canon!

Considering I've a bought a new TV about every 7 years trying to future proof myself I've treated myself to an LG 65" OLED BX model. Wow... very impressed with the image quality. Not that I could afford it but I could have got away with a larger size. Wonder what the technology will look like in 7 years time. John Gavin, I was going to warn about OLED screens BUT thought best not to in case I was just the one member here with issues. My LG 55" OLED also as screen burn AND trying to contact LG or deal with them as made me swear NEVER to buy LG again for anything. I am a normal user TV wise, I have no kids living at home ,no gaming done on the TV . My screen burn is done by SKY TV electronic programme guide. this is used frequently every day BUT not for long at all. Certainly not the time AND type of use to cause SB. My next TV will be a QLED, do not care about absolute picture quality,i want a TV that will last more than 18 months,I paid £1500 for my set. I will not even ask if OLED panels are better now because LG make them all,for all other companies. Even if my set had a fault that caused the SB or this was not even SB , LG was not interested, I could not be bothered in the end dealing with them. I bought a LG 55" oled tv 3 years ago, just recently a massive screen burn in has appeared not sure what of (not covered by extended warranty), then a vertical green line appeared (column of failed pixels), now (just before xmas) the tv fails to switch on. I now have a £1500 piece of junk, Found a 55" 4K UHD samsung led tv in stock at argos, ordered sunday night and delivered next day for £500. Salutary Lesson; If your supplier offers a free extended warranty (richer sounds offer 7 years i think) sign up for it.

  8. I think you guys are missing a trick here. I have been buying lots old shed/loft/garage crates from facebook etc. I bin the I.C engine or motor but recycle the balsa. I have bought 47 so far.
  9. Posted by GONZO on 04/12/2020 18:05:20: I have no intention of having it ever. From official stats there is a 99% recovery and for some one like me, a 73 year old diabetic, it's 95%. If and it's a big if I put my position in writing, as it is still voluntary, and got a written guarantee from the BMFA and club that they would refund all my money in the event of a change of rules that would require me to take the vaccine to continue to use the field(coercion) then I may consider it. I am with you regards no wanting OR having the jab. I have also have heard talk of some sort of card system to show if you have had it! think this is totally wrong. If people are worried about getting covid then get the jab, dont make everyone have to have it. Aso all the people who are fretting about waiting for the jab have most likely had covid with no symptons AND yes I know the "experts" say you can get it multiple times. That huge "overflow"/ "crisis" temporary covid hospital that was set up in London docklands, is that full or even being used does anyone know? do not see much activity when I go past it several times a week.
  10. Not exactly on topic BUT as anyone seen them "seriousreaders" adverts on TV? Have you seen the price! Are they that special,I bought a normal angle poise lamp and put a daylight bulb in it and its brill, way cheaper.
  11. Posted by Trevor Crook on 21/11/2020 22:18:57: Posted by Gary Murphy 1 on 21/11/2020 10:42:13: I think you guys are missing the point. Balsa is not used in the construction of the blades. The balsa is burned to power the Chinese factories that make them. Then me buy the wind turbines to save the planet, the same turbines that spend more time not spinning than spinning in the UK, well at least the ones near me. Well some must be spinning somewhere in the UK. Just checked a live power generation website at 10.15pm on Saturday evening, and wind power is generating 9.29 GW, 34.5% of the grid demand. Could you please keep me posted daily ,then I might change my mind. Perhaps the ones in east sussex only work at night.
  12. Something similar, had bought 25kg JX brand servo`s from ebay and really pleased with them. This was from different vendors depending who had in stock and delivery time, all from China. Then the last one sounded different when testing, then a close look showed it was not as good quality. Minor differences .So it was either a knock off most likely. But the originals were very good for the money
  13. Posted by Brian Sweeting 1 on 21/11/2020 14:12:39: Remember the basic premise of selling in the UK is not what it costs to make but how much the market will spend to buy one. Well the way things are going now with jobs being lost etc, spare income will be less. Once the stuff does not get sold perhaps we will see prices fall?

  16. This is where all this gets stupid. if I am in the park by myself OR distancing , flying, walking, running, golfing or picking my nose ,WHY should me DRIVING there in my car ALONE be a issue. Too many stupid rules set by NEW "covid experts" or "advisors" now making a living out of covid. This is why covid rules will be around for many years after covid does decline. The sooner people start to realise this the better. I am 60 so not young and tip top condition BUT this virus does not scare me. I wear a mask to protect others "fears" . One last note, my friend has been put on forced furlow again because he as a breathing complaint. Yet his wife works in a care home and daughter in a hospital. He is in more danger at home! He is not allowed to stay with someone else!!!! If he wanted to ,which he does not. To many stupid rules. Latest one today, free data for youngsters so they will stay home on phones.Good luck with that.
  17. Posted by Doc Marten on 01/11/2020 11:59:29: Posted by BackinBlack on 01/11/2020 11:32:12: Well said. People spread Coronavirus, so if you don't want it, keep away from other people wherever possible. If you HAVE to be close to others take precautions. Simple isn't it? Yep.... Spot on. Its like Peter`s mention of the 101 neighbour. She needs to have contact to get by. So precautions must be taken BUT needs people close to help. It was said here that a family member has had covid 19 and had a nasty cough BUT that would be much worse for a 70 year old, yes so would the flu or such like. The vast vast vast majority who get Covid have minor symptoms. We need to take care of the old and weak etc BUT get on with life. The way things are going no one will be able to afford any hobbies or pastimes soon. All the rules and regs ARE NOT consistent. This will never go away, what are we all doing, waiting for a vaccine, good luck with that. Look out for the next great depression because that's very likely.
  18. Been put off using shapeways because of being in the US. Just read that shapeways has a branch in the Nederlands, so should be less shipping and no duties. As anyone used this or have info please?
  19. The stat on my valent is a Honeywell and although many functions is easy to programme without the manual even, apx 3 years old. My parners on the other hand is a nightmare, still newish. Must be down to make model I think?
  20. Everyone under 45 being a "PC correct/snow flake/lilly livered/save the plant/gender correct/etc/etc" woss.
  21. See this also and thought here we go again. Remember using birds of prey to down drones? these drones are a worry of damaging jets, what about the birds then???? Then there was the autonomous delivery buggies being trialed, yeah right, they are not going to be vandelised or robbed are they for the goods. More rubbish to waste money on doing studies. Knife crime can not get sorted yet want to imprison yobs with offensive dogs. The list goes on.   **moderated for site language infringement**   Edited By David Ashby - Moderator on 20/10/2020 19:28:47
  22. Thanks for the link. I have done pretty much all of that already. The only difference that I can see the driver. the radio is not the same as mine though. I will try that different driver and see what occurs.
  23. Trying to use the data/programme USB cable for a Flysky radio. It does not seem to work, keep getting "usb device malfunctioned" "not recognised" and error 43?. I am pretty sure it not the radio or lead. I tried a different lead and still the same. The driver is CP 2012 siliconlabs. When th cable does show on device manager there is a exclamation mark,so a prob is present. When I do update driver it says the latest is running. Looked at a few places for help with no luck, the last said to uninstall all the usb devices then reinstall. Did that and my wireless mouse would not auto install like always! any ideas anyone?
  24. Seen vids where a 2 way switch was replaced with a 3 way. Just needed 2 equally rated resistors added. Can this be done to replace a rotary knob? will never have need for rotaries.
  25. I know it might vary from CC to CC but I had a issue with a company saying they had sent me the item, then they said that it was a mistake had not been sent and was sent that morning, then that did not turn up! My purchase was apx £30 and Barclaycard was very helpful. asked the details of vendor, did a check on them while on the phone, see that trustpilot had a few bad reports on them!!! They refunded my money with proviso if it arrives the money will be deducted again.
