  1. Yep - a Rickman Ranger, two Westfields and a Cobra replica.
  2. Lighter fluid is the thing for separating POR joints, even old, long set ones. Just brush along the joint and the POR softens. Might be worth a try on your other stuff.
  3. Eric, there are commercial outfits such as A Plane Old Bargain that buy collections like this, won’t offer top dollar but will be more than nothing.
  4. I flew with them for a few months when we lived in Flaugeac for a while, but that was about 15 years ago. You could just turn up at the site and see who’s there…
  5. Your servo tester just exercises the servos, it doesn’t change any ‘settings’ in the servo. You need to screw the clevises in our out on the control linkages to get the flying surfaces neutral when the radio is powered up and sticks centred.
  6. Chinook at about 100ft straight over the house. We’re in the bottom of a valley, it was about 9:30pm and very dark.
  7. Trestle point and sling point I think
  8. Cutting glassfibre sheet will make the teeth disappear pretty quickly……
  9. I had a similar problem on my Anet printer. The fan would sometimes go if I flicked the vanes, but not always. Bought a new fan (cheap) and it’s been fine since
  10. Yep, I’ve just fitted a new timer and 1 slice/2 slice selector switch to my 25 year old Dualit. All spares available from Dualit, and very reasonably priced.
  11. Well I went with the Tandem X18 and added an iRange iRX4 Lite. After a bit of firmware updating and downloading the LUA multi module script from GitHub it all seems to work fine. Only tried binding to one of my Spektrum equipped models so far, but it worked OK. The Frsky stuff just worked as expected.
  12. I have a Horus X10 Express with on OpenTX with a 4-in-1 module that all works really well. I fancy changing to a Tandem X18. I know that I will need a new 'Lite' 4-in-1 module, the main one available seems to be the iRange IRX4. Is this just plug and play with Ethos like it was with OTX?
  13. Yep, taught myself to fly model helis like that back in the early 80s. Had no help or info, and having flown full size helis it made more sense to 'pull' on collective to go up and 'push' for down. When I later joined a club and realised this wasn't 'normal' I retrained myself.
  14. Commercial exploitation as here. Glad my flying clubs are in a fairly unpopulated part of the country, but obviously compulsory electronic conspicuity is not far off…
  15. And the importers/distributors make little to no effort to provide spares for the ARTFs. I have a VQ Messerschmitt with a cracked cowl. My only option seems to be to try to repair or fabricate a new one myself
  16. My package shipped Royal Mail Tracked 24 by RC World on 28 Nov is still in the RM Cardiff depot where it has been since 29 Nov.
  17. Yes, flaps on 3-way switch for me also. Servo slow on down only, normal speed on up as you might need to get rid of the flap in a hurry.
  18. Hope you have better luck than me - RC World send by Royal Mail, which is in a mess obviously. They sent my order “Tracked 24” on Monday 28 Nov. Tracking shows it’s been at RM Cardiff depot since the 29th. Not RC World’s fault of course and they have been very helpful, but frustrating. RM just say the 24 bit of the service name is an aim, not a guarantee.
  19. Going to have bouncy landings with that…
  20. Just like VQ Models ARTFs. No one stocks spares, calls to the importers Macgregors result in “we don’t stock spares, there’s no demand, no one asks for them”.
  21. Not as bad as the chap very keen to buy one of my helis and wanted to meet halfway. Drove an hour and a half to the services he wanted to meet at and of course he never showed, never answered his phone or email. Yes I know I should have taken a deposit or something and I won't fall for that again.
  22. It’s time for the annual power line check. This height over the middle of the village and my house, but power line height in the fields around.
  23. Hi HM, so sorry I missed your post, I've been away. I was just like you - when I originally obtained the kit many years ago I was going to go the Saito 180 route and even bought one in anticipation. for many reasons it was over 15 years before I started to build the model and by then, like you, I had been seduced by the almost perfect scale size of the UMS 7-77 or 7-90. I don't have any petrol engines, I'm quite happy with glow, and the extra fuel cost makes little difference with the small amount I use in a year. Anyway, I'm sorry to report that a combination of personal and practical changes in circumstance meant that it was unlikely I would be able to continue with this model and I sold it as a project, just after the Cosford show, to one of the display pilots there. I'm sure that he will complete it. Sorry I can't be more help. David
