  1. ... and when you twist the wire ends, don't forget to use gloves or tissue. You don't want all that grease on your fingers getting on your nicely cleaned wires.
  2. Another classic for consideration, the Astro Hog and its siblings. The plans are available for download from the usual sources. The original Hog is 72" span, but there are also 48" and 36" (Mini Hog) versions as well. The full size SIG kit is available at a price, but you would rather cut your own wood wouldn't you? Here is my leccy powered Mini Hog: Sparks
  3. Blimey, is that time already, I've only just finished my Mini Jazz!
  4. Hi John, I'm a slacker too, my excuse is house extension, decorating, life etc. I did ask the question of the man himself, Malcolm Corbin, via the members email. His reply was:- "The plan in the mag was drawn wrong. I set tail at zero!!" So, that is what I have done. I have just covered my Mini Jazz and hope to have it completed and maidened in a couple of weeks if the wind ever drops below gale force! Good luck your Mini Jazz. Sparks
  5. I used Conti board and drew the gridlines on the board with a black marker pen, very therapeutic!
  6. There was mention of a twin, how about the Grumman F7F Tigercat? One day I shall build one, but would be good to have a kit to get me off the starting block.
  7. There's an Industria stapler and box of staples for sale on fleebay (here). It uses No 230 staples and the pictures show a box of OFREX 30/40 staples which may be equivalent to the Industria 230. Hope that may help. Sparks
  8. Hi Snorbitz, Sounds like you haven't set the ESC to brake so as to stop the motor at min throttle setting. The prop will only fold when stopped. Sparks
  9. Cymaz, I think you will find that the BMFA suggested noise limit is 82dB(A) @ 7m
  10. Though I have no intention of owning a drone I find Shahid's 'Heavy Lift' article very interesting and instructive. His overall approach to design, safety, servicing and practicability could apply equally well to fixed wing machines. So I'm all for articles like that.
  11. Simon, An obvious question, so apologies if you have already investigated this. There looks to be a wired-in glass fuse on the left side of the charger PCB. Have you checked the fuse is OK? Regards, Richard
  12. You could try RC Bearings, they have a good range. Sparks
  13. Some generators are very picky about what load they are presented with. Our club bought a cheapo 1kW 4-stroke generator from Toolstation. It was fine driving resistive loads, such as kettles and electric fires, but would only produce an erratic 300W when presented with switched-mode power supplies and chargers. Look for one that specifically says it is suitable for use with 'electronic' loads such as TV's and PC's. Sparks     Edited By Sparks on 17/04/2015 08:40:27
  14. At least you got your engines delivered David. I fellow modeller of your (our) club put in a stella bid on a VW van after returning home from the pub one night in a particularly good mood. Like you, he was surprised to find he had won it the next day (especially as he couldn't quite remember bidding for it!). Only problem it was in Scotland and, if that was not bad enough, it broke down on the way home to sunny Shropshire. Sparks
  15. They could also teach them how to spell 'their'. Sorry, I couldn't resist that!
  16. Thanks for the replies and suggestions lads. Deep in the bowels of AOL's website I found this, so I have answered my own question:- "If you use the AOL Desktop software you can continue to use it to access your favourite websites and your AOL Mail. You can keep your AOL Email address forever, whether you have broadband from AOL or any other internet service provider" I currently pay line rental to BT and pay AOL seperately for the basic broadband service. AOL have just hiked the broadband monthly rental to £20/month. So much for customer loyalty (I've been with them for 9 years). Just need to persuade AOL to give me my MAC code so that I can transfer to another supplier. Tried this morning, but the lady in AOL's far off and distant help line didn't appear to understand or speak english! Or perhaps that was a deliberate delaying ploy?
  17. I'm thinking of changing my Internet Service Provider. I'm currently with AOL, but their charges are now very uncompetitive. If I do change to another supplier, would i still be able to keep my AOL email address ([email protected]) with another supplier? It would be a hassle changing log in details on the various sites I use - even if I could remember them all! Sparks
  18. Hi Phil, Could you put me down for two boards as well. Cheers, Richard
  19. The dihedral on my Astro V ended up at 9" (build tolerance!) which doesn't look excessive for this type of model. It's an ideal plane for 'lazy' flying, but watch out for thermals as it is a real floater.

    bmfa b test

Hi Richie, As others have said, you don't need a pattern plane. A Wot 4 will do the 'B' with ease. Just keep practising the complete schedule so that you can progress from stage to stage smoothly. It will become second nature and the test will be over before you know it. Best of luck, Sparks .
  22. IDD15 The DIGIMAC would clearly justify a case like THIS to protect it. Only £149.90 to you Sir, or £6.93 direct from Hobby King - HERE. The prices on eBay never fail to amuse
