  1. As MattyB says dendrite growth seems to be the problem, and as Capt Kremen says we don’t hear of problems with stock in a model shop. The thing is we are talking about used batteries and these are subject to chemical /mechanical change when being charged and discharged, in fact airlines have been forced to ground aircraft for this very reason. So I think the lesson to be learned is to be aware of the all the heightened risks when charging and store safely as is practicable. I personally have a four bay charging station with a modern balance 4way charger and each bay equipped with lipo sacks and chepo “ebay special” temperature sensor/ alarm that can cut off the power above a certain temperature I have mine set to 35c if a battery just gets mildly warm the station shuts down, but I still don’t leave it unattended for any length of time. Installing a different type of fire alarm gona give that a try, this forum is always full of good simple ideas.

  6. So, basically, like, going forward, we have to like save the planet, but first – coming up later , just for you guys, brexitgate or Indyref 2 if you really like wana get into a stooshie.
  7. So Gary After rebooting everything, things you can do yourself to find the problem as per DJC try using a cable if you can , this will tell you if you have a hardware WiFi problem , try restore point as per Shaun W, otherwise you can back up your data and restore the whole drive to factory settings. If you brought it into my shop after imaging the drive this is the process I would go through to sort the problem because you may have system corruption a virus or malware. It is unlikely but It is possible that it may be a hardware problem and a simple job of reseating the memory and processor, but unless this is done by some one who knows what there doing in an antistatic environment it can cause more problems and I would surmise is beyond this discussion. Richard
  8. I have use Aspen Red that comes premixed 50:1 ( with no extra oil added) in a DLE 20 about 3 Gallons so far no problems. Before I used it I consulted Aspen tech dept regarding the low oil content, basically they said that the quality of the oil used plays a significant part in the quantity needed. I understand DLEs and the like use needle roller bearings this may make a difference to your decision on what engine to use ( I am willing to be corrected on this) I understand that this may seem a risk but it’s the only way I can tolerate a petrol aeroplane in the car so its Aspen or nowt as far as I’m concerned. Here is the an email I got from them “Hi Richard, It’s not the quantity of oil it’s the quality and lower priced engines normally spec higher oil ratios because the manufactures feel the user with buy low grade cheap oil. So they cover themselves by doubled the oil quantity in most cases. The castor oils don’t mix very well with Aspen but all other types are fine. Please be aware you will not get the same life (5 years) from mixing your own as we can’t guarantee the oil used. If you do mix your own please use Aspen4. Do not add extra oil to aspen2 as the two types of oil might not mix correctly and this also makes the mix ratio harder to work out. Please see our website for testimonials from model engine users running on aspen. Kind regards Eddie”
  9. I agree with low pass Pete and Andrew Ray. At the moment its government advice not law, so I am expected to go on holiday to a hotel next week with no refund if I wish to postpone or cancel. Taking into account the many a varied circumstances we live in people should be allowed to do what they think is best. Just before people go off the deep end no I’m not going to stay in a hotel for a fortnight because I think it would be unwise and yes I going up the flying field because staying in is just not healthy as it is possible do distance one’s self same as going for walks in the country no contact no risk and if you think I should be doing different - tough - now you can go of the deep end.
  10. I used to get about 5 bogus phone calls a week, have been using "truecall" for 5 years or more all stopped the instant I installed it, I can't recommend it highly enough.
  11. It seems most of us are up to speed on the email scammers. To stop phone calls I use a truecall box I installed one for me and another for my 96 year old father 3 years ago, neither of us has had a scam sales or unwanted call since. I set it up so callers have to input a number to get through it stops unwanted calls dead.
  12. Just trying to give people the heads up. I will be sorry if they are, I would welcome some positive news. I am in the position ATM should I order stuff from somewhere else or not?
  13. I have purchased undercarriage form Carbon Copy through their web site. Money has been taken from my card but I have not received the goods, they do not respond to emails and their phone is permanently engaged, looks like they are out of business. Anybody else with the same experience?

  20. Could it be possible that hobbies generally are taken up when the family has grown and people have more time? I would not be surprised that this is the case for all hobbies from lapidary to railway modelling.
