  1. There's one factor where I don't think I've had difinitive advice on and that is deciding on wing dihedral angles. From experience I feel I can tell what is about right and it's generally worked .If it looks right it probably is ? I wonder if it is possible to use formulae to establish the ideal amount .I realise there are maybe dozens of variables of course to account for in such a calculation .With our low/mid-wing aerobatic models ,then we know what parameters to use simply from looking at others similar .This applies to high wing slow flying aileronless models as well . 2. KingKade Wotthehell - preinstalled with Spectrum radio gear ! 2nd &final attempt . (I'm Kidding !)
  3. Once you have "dry fitted" your mylar hinges and all is OK then I drill a small hole at the centre of the slots .This enables cyano to really penetrate .It's amazing to watch several drops just disappear to where it's supposed to.If the hinges are the furry type (or roughened with glass paper ) I have found no use for any extra pinning .Just my experience of course on all models except 3D jobs that I've never tried . 4. My ambition is to implement the plan I had a year ago to make a runway or two flyeable off once the ground has dried out & invite more visitors to the Scarborough area to come along and fly for nothing .If you have a chainsaw & are qualified to use it,then that would be very handy too.No problem for campers either as we have a small but registered site for that as well .Those who have been from forum contact have had a really good time . 5. CS No problem.Think of all the batteries and passengers you need to carry to make it the most aerobatic thrill experience on earth .(apart from a flight in Concorde of course )
  6. MEGAWOT Huge electric powered full size Wot4
  7. John That's a very high capacity isn't it (are they AAs),mine are all 2200 mAh and I just charge them with my "wall" charger .I get confused with my proper charger I only use for my lipos but that's my failing brain cell .
  8. Chris How about those that reach 70 in August as well ? Nothing personal of course being so un biased as I am !
  9. UMM Keep bending them back I say .You're using the right stuff it seems without breaking ,just keep trying to land properly on rough terrain like most of us
  10. A couple of centuries ago baby boys were dressed in pink don't you know . I wondered where all the latest confusion of sexes started ?
  11. Apparently one in three car accidents are caused by a moose on the roads in Sweden .Why don't they stop them driving I ask?
  12. Bearair You could come to our farm BUT we'll have to fly in seperate fields
  13. Risk is certainly calculable statistically as has been admirably pointed out .SO--Why do some idiots go out climbing Snowdon etc. in this recent weather knowing they're probably have to call out our expensive emergency services even though they are "experienced".I'm a lone flyer and hate people around me putting my concentration at risk .I do appreciate the dangers (after55 years ) and use common sense and my experience to keep my body intact .As some of you know ,I was a pro guitarist for 35 years or so ! I should know something about why I still have all my digits intact! Yes,I get very grumpy at times (now where's my nanny gone -Boo Hoo)
  14. Steve I have a partially started Topflite Spitfire .ie Tail surfaces built only and reinforcements added to ribs where required .I am worried that for health reasons ,I'll never fly it .I have retracts both servoless and mechanical, oleos, wheels, servos.engine (asp 91 2-st).props.spinner,tanks (2) & more to go with it .If you are interested I would love it to go to someone keen and I don't expect to get back its cost ,just for it to go to a good home.It was a Xmas pressy from 'er indoors 'cos it was to be my ultimate build .PM me if you're interested .The built bits still fit in the box and I have the outer box that that goes in from Sussex models Myron Edited By Myron Beaumont on 29/03/2013 22:24:51
  15. I suppose that if you keep the fuel tank close as you can to the carb then there should be no unknown problems based on everyones past experience .As PatMc says -- The elimination of one more potential unknown that could go wrong .
  16. Plummet From the replies so far .it seems to be safe ,Whether it is needed or not nobody seems to know .Ok smaller venturi -But -less fuelflow . In other words you are entering the world of the unknown .Let us know how you get on .I'm seriously thinking of going all diesel again .I just love 'em (and the smell)Pint for pint and hours of enjoyment I don't think the cost of fuel comes anywhere near the cost of running your car for the same amount of time for fun
  17. Bearair I can relate to your comments .I went to being a musician(35 years) from engineer (8 years RR) & ended up for a few years rebuilding three old boats in Cornwall I lived on with family (Fowey/Charlestown/Mylor/Dartmouth/Brixham--in Devon I know) .I'm not rich but comfortable . My glass is always half full ! That's a lie, it's nearly always full --Purely medicinal of course
  18. Phil I must agree with Mandy . Speed/diameter/pitch/angles of attack /etc at our age means nothing IMHO
  19. In every aspect of our society there are those that persue instant short lived gratification (money to burn) & others that evolve through adversity to persue what they want to do for something they really love . They get the real satisfaction that people like modellers of all genre achieve . Oh dear ,I'm showing my grumpyness again
  20. Ken I thought you were in NE1 not TW2 or A/G Stick to what you know with help from Mr Jim Carsse etc Next thing you know you'll be in charge with a food mixer !
  21. Dangerous (as per title) or Hazardous .That is the question ? Many many factors involved as illiterated PS Been up for days trying to rescue new born lambs .Some made it-some didn't .Work out your own sense of perspective Edited By Myron Beaumont on 28/03/2013 17:58:54 Edited By Myron Beaumont on 28/03/2013 18:00:13
  22. Martin I don't think luck comes into it .It was designed that way and works for me .The only restriction in the cowl is between the rocker cover and the ali round cowl at the front where I had to "panel beat" a bump in it for clearance . Maybe this has forced air over heat sensitive areas ie Cylinder ?( certainly not the crankcase) than specified for a smaller 2-st .
  23. Actually ,it's 99.7% accurate .Tell me I'm wrong 'cos that was a mental arithmetic calculation !
  24. Erfolg Reminds me of a DC Super Merlin (red spinner ) I always had problems with after a previous life of Mills . 75s & 1.3s that started first flick . Maybe a "nostalgia" thread should be considered to carry on our conversations considering todays response??
