  1. It was a test. The whole point was to see whether it worked as it should and, if not, to fix it I would rather that it was tested before it is needed Do you regard the range test that you do before flying a waste of time ?
  2. Why would a 4 servo wing have 12 connections rather than 2 for power and 4 for the data lines ?
  3. T Me too, hence my reaction My complaint with them is ongoing
  4. I recently had a call from EoN who are my electricity supplier to remind me about changes to their payment arrangements even thought I had already paid a bill using the new arrangements The representative who called was surprised when I would not confirm my personal details such as name, address and date of birth "for secuity reasons" and said that she could not talk to me. When I explained why, although I would have thought it was obvious, and said that I would be lodging a complaint, she offered to do it for me and it has appeared on my EoN online account So, the call was from EoN, but do they really expect customers to give personal details to unsolicited callers from unknown numbers ? It seems that they do, and from the surprise shown by their rep at my refusal, many others had been happy to give details, which worries me BB
  5. Isn't the idea that they should face in different directions, perhaps at 90 degrees, so that both of them are never pointing directly at the transmitter which is the least optimal direction to receive a signal
  6. If there is a demand then presumably aftermarket extension cables will become available if they are not already
  7. Hasn't the Supercharger network been opened to all users now, at a cost, of course
  8. I believe that the Reds were a bit depleted due to deployment of two of the team elsewhere and I am not sure how much time they have had to re-jig and practice with a reduced size team
  9. Posted by Phil Green on 27/10/2020 09:46:22: Indicators used in an 'autopilot' fashion, ie every time without thought, is a Bad Thing. Advanced riding teaches that indicators are used to signal TO someone. Your first thoughts should be "who benefits from this signal, who am I signalling to?". If there is no particular target for your indicators, you dont use them. Edited By Phil Green on 27/10/2020 09:59:05 Do you always know that there is nobody who will benefit from the signal ? I think not Why not always give the appropriate signal whether or not there is anyone to see it as far as you know ?
  10. The position of the prop is too close to the battery hatch for my liking because it seems inevitable that your hands must be near or even in the prop arc when stowing the battery after connecting it
  11. If it was a while ago that you used the forum then I believe that you may have a particular individual in mind. He had a habit of being right but in an arrogant way and did not suffer fools gladly. Note the past tense
  12. Posted by Phil Green on 29/07/2020 23:36:02: Posted by Bob Burton on 29/07/2020 14:13:42: Plenty of help available on the Arduino forum of which I am a moderator (UKHeliBob) forum.arduino.cc is quite the least friendly forum I have ever used. In fact I'd go further than that, a lot of responders are aggressively dismissive. Pick any topic at random and you'll see. Really discouraging for beginners who at best get an 'RTFM' and are dismissed as an inconvenience. Cheers Phil That really is not my experience. Long term members of the forum do get annoyed when people do not read the sticky topics on how to post programming questions, which results in code being posted in italics (if it is posted at all) and no details being given of the hardware being used. That certainly leads to advice to read the sticky topics but unless questions and code are posted properly then it is very difficult to provide help The equivalent here would be a post saying "I have problem with my transmitter. Can you help me ?" Advice, including writing code, is freely available on the forum but members are expected to do some work for themselves. It is not unknown, for instance, for school, and even University assignments to be posted in full in the expectation that someone will write the code for them. If anyone here has any Arduino based questions please feel free to ask them here or via PM and I will do my best to help. I would be interested to know how many members here are also members of the Arduino forum
  13. Plenty of help available on the Arduino forum of which I am a moderator (UKHeliBob) Let me know if you need any help
  14. I see many references to "low speed mode" in the document linked to on the BMFA site CAP 1789 but can find no definition of it. Does anyone have a link to a definition ?
  15. Flying thermal soarers is not boring, but when you put a motor in a glider it is no longer a glider
  16. I just took the BMFA online test to see what all the fuss was about. My Registration Competency Certificate which I have just downloaded says that the Certificate Number is %RESULT_ID%. My name and the the date overlays the "is awarded to" text and indicates that the certificate is for Model Aircraft which, as I fly mostly multirotors makes me wonder whether the certificate is relevant in any case I am not impressed
  17. There is always a newer model on its way. Wait until it is released then realise that there will be yet another newer model later Repeat until bored Does the X9D plus do everything that you need ? If so then buy it
  18. When I had a problem with Plusnet a couple of months ago I emailed their CEO ( [email protected]  and the problem was sorted out swiftly as was that of a decorator doing some work for us to whom I passed the above email address
  19. Posted by Percy Verance on 11/10/2018 07:49:26: They do in fact offer alternative menus, both vegetarian and glutton free. Edited By Percy Verance on 11/10/2018 08:12:31 I am going to assume that was deliberate. Or was it ?
  20. Th spurious graph is on page 49 of the printed version of the October 2018 edition of the BMFA News
  21. Statistics are a wonderful device for proving anything. For instance, looking at the Airprox reports I see that a full sized aircraft was involved in every one of them. Conclusive proof that the danger is caused by full sized aircraft and that they should be banned or more heavily controlled.
  22. On page 49 of the October 2018 BMFA News there is an article about exemptions from certain rules for conventional models and an explanation of why multi rotor aircraft, later called drones in the article, are excluded from the exemption. The article includes a graph of Airproxes for 8 years with altitude as its Y axis and what I assume is the year on the X axis although it is not labelled. The data in the graph appears to be divided into several categories with a key to the data below it. The categories are Drones, Drones, Drones, Drones, Drones, Drones and Models. What ? If the X axis is the year and is ordered conventionally from earliest to latest across the graph from left to right then there appear to have been no incidents involving Drones for the past 3 years. What kind of nonsense is this ?
  23. GaaTech (https://www.gaatech.com/) might be worth contacting. I have not used them but they seem to offer the sort of service that you require.
