  1. Cuban8, Blind persons cannot use 'Smart' phones, Android or IOS. They need tactile controls i.e. big embossed buttons.
  2. Like thousands of others my elderly mother and my blind partner have 'big button' mobiles which are 2g or 3g. Looks like the most vulnerable are not worthy of any alerts!
  3. There are some organisations have archived Web pages.....have you tried those? Web.archive.org
  4. Andy, Bright mild steel will be perfectly OK for your washer. The process for hardening and tempering as described is what is used for making hand tools such as cold chisels and punches etc.. The washers that you buy from any hardware store are just punched out of mild steel sheet and are perfectly serviceable for a myriad of uses up to and including structural steelwork. If you machine your washer you will end up with a precision item that will be perfectly suited for the use you want to put it too.
  5. The washer will only harden and temper if it is carbon steel (080M40) or equivalent. Ordinary mild steel will still go through the process and will still exhibit the colour changes but will not change its properties. HTH
  6. No, because the aircraft will rise due to the airflow over the wing not the rotation of the wheels, Unless the conveyor is fitted with some sort of blade to move the air the wing is effectively in still air. If this worked aircraft carriers would not need catapults.
  7. Steve Well done that man..! If you pm me with your details I'll get them packed and ready..... Regards Rob (Moderator - can you add NOW TAKEN to the heading)
  8. After spending pounds buying cables and adaptors to try and copy my collection of aircraft VHS tapes onto DVD I am going to admit defeat –none of them worked as claimed. No commercial copier will touch them as they have the word ‘Copyright’ on the cases (despite the fact that the publishers disappeared years ago) Before I take them to the recycling centre I am offering them on here free to any good home that would like them. I am happy to pay postage. They have given me many hours of pleasure and it is a small price to pay rather than destroy them. The collection consists of mostly Castle Vision VHS and includes profiles, development and active service footage of… Jaguar, Hunter & Harrier also the Concorde Story, The History of the Red Arrows and Farewell to Arms – The Vulcan Story Two fairly unique videos are included – The Last Last Lightning show recoded at RAF Binbrook in 1988 including a Diamond Nine of Lightnings! Also Phantom Phinale – the last days of the F4 at RAF Wattisham. This video is commentary free and contains lots of flying footage. It is all choreographed to the music of Queen (the range footage to ‘Rushing Headlong’ and at the end ‘These Were The Days of Our Lives’ are particularly poignant) If anyone takes them I hope they get as much pleasure from them as I have had. Thanks for reading…
  9. Phil, I am intrigued and interested in the Brian Winch bicarbonate of soda blaster. Where did you get the details from? I have one of the Badger airbrush sized grit blasters and have used it with table salt (the grit supplied and fine sand is too aggressive). The table salt cleans effectively but leaves a dull finish. I don't know if you can buy Guyson beads small enough for this gun but they leave a very good finish.
  10. My sister in law trained as a housemaid with THF and was told to hang it as per the patent for the simple reason it stops people from rubbing the backs of their hands on the wall when trying to get paper....!
  11. Any doubts about leaving batteries unattended when charging now answered..... https://news.sky.com/video/share-12828227
  12. Component Shop here in the UK does Vapex battery packs....https://www.componentshop.co.uk/9-6v-2500mah-aa-square-2x2x2-transmitter-battery-pack.html
  13. Just bought a B&D from Argos with a built in laser. Just cut some plinths for a kitchen.....easy to use. Recommended!
  14. Thanks for the reply Ron but after I log in and go to 'My Library' this is all I can see....
  15. I subscribed last month to the digital version of RCME through Pocketmags. How do I see the latest copy of the mag? My Pocketmags site only shows a couple of 2019 back issues. Any and all help appreciated....
  16. Agree to the previous posts. I would like to learn more about home anodising please......
  17. Should be plenty of airfields lying unused - the RAF hasn't got enough planes to fill the ones that are open! By the way, the 2023 Defence review will entrust the nations defence to a line of Territorial Army soldiers on Dover Cliffs (weekends and bank holidays only) armed with catapults. Unfortunately the funding for ball bearings is scheduled for the 2024 review. Without body armour each soldier will be issued with a four leaf clover to ward off incoming enemy fire. Officers will be issued with a lucky rabbits foot to distinguish them. In time honoured tradition by the MOD these will be sourced from China.
  18. Cuban8 I have the Pocketmags app on both my phone and laptop and cannot find any mention of a special offers on back issues. Can you give me any clues as to where it they can be found please..... Many thanks Rob
  19. The doctor said....I haven't seen you recently. No, I replied, I haven't been well... He examined me and said I can't find anything wrong with you. Well, I said, there was when I made the appointment! He said I think you have a condition last seen about 25 years ago. I must have caught it from one of the magazines in the waiting room I replied.....
  20. Trevor Good looking ship..! Was it your own design or a plan/kit? ..
  21. Not for much longer as Vulcan XH558 is to be dismantled and moved to a new home. It is not known if it will run again after this... The airport is closing in June 2023.
