  1. Twinstars are great fun. Great touch n go's on wet/frozen grass, snow, or puddles.....
  2. Not today - very misty Not yesterday - very blowy Friday - yes! Had a lovely few hours - breezy and chilly but managed to fly the Riot, Hawk and Valiant. Also set up the engine on my Double Trouble. Here's the pits area, and Steve doing his fpv thing....
  3. I'm sure they are better. But £120 better? I doubt they'll improve a model's flying characteristics by any noticeable amount, and may make you think "these switches feel cheap, I'd better replace them", leading you to the point where nothing is the original cheap and cheerful Radiomaster. I'm pretty sure I can find at least a hundred better homes for £120. But it's an entirely personal choice of course.
  4. Maybe I should be losing sleep over this..... Currently in my workshop (ex pigeon coop), I have about a dozen changed LiPo packs in a soft LiPo 'bag' - that's going to slow down an inferno by just a little. About a dozen newly discharged LiPo packs in another bag. And about 50 random packs sitting randomly in a plastic tray, in various states of charge/discharge. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I was a relatively early adopter of LiPos and in what must be tens of thousands of cycles, I've only ever had 2 issues: 1. Charged a pack (pre balance charger days) as 3S when it was 2S - pooof! 2. Damaged a LiPo in a crash - much smoke, few flames. No, I won't lose sleep. Just carry on being relatively careful.
  5. Mine had an SC70FS - seemed a perfect match to me....... never needed any more power. If I'd wanted to fly really fast, I'd use a different airframe.
  6. Ah, no idea really, as I don't have that radio! I'm assuming they are either on the SD card, or accessible on the radios internal file structure via usb or wifi. I'm afraid I'm not sure how much access Spektrum allow to such stuff......
  7. As I alluded, formatting is your friend ....🙂
  8. Decision postponed. At yesterday's indoor session, I decided that I need something a little more relaxing to fly than my Mini Pitts, so I'm looking to augment my fleet in that area. Cheers for all the comments and input. GG
  9. I have a few ESCs that by design have the capacitors exposed - they work fine so don't bin it just yet.
  10. When I made the jump, I backed up my SD card, them formatted it, then copied the 2.3 files.
  11. Morning If you have Spektrum receivers, then you'll need a multi-protocol module (e.g. iRange) to allow the Taranis to bind, this will convert the RF signal to a type the rx can understand. Without a module, what you're trying to do is akin to expecting your old DX to bind to a Futaba rx. This is a hardware/RF limitation, not OpenTX. I had a Taranis with an iRange module and it worked lawlessly with Spektum rx's.
  12. Yes, I am sure you can scroll through, but if there are 'hundreds', sorted into what Spektrum thinks is a logical order (rather than alphabetical), I can see the frustration. My assumption is you could store them in any order (including alphabetical), making things easier to find.
  13. Presumably, you can store them on the radio in any order....?
  14. Unowot is sort of 'trainery', albeit quite slippery. Wot4 is out and out sports model. Wot4 is too big and heavy for 3s, so that's sorted 🙂 You may find Unowot needs 4s - have a word with George at 4Max before buying.
  15. Personally, I'd go for a Wot4 over a UnoWot......... can be really tame through to pretty wild....
  16. I priced it up....... Wood - excluding ply for the one former and firewall - £65 (probably a bit over-ordering involved) Accessories (closed loops, wire, fuel tank, saddle clamps, hinges etc) - £25 (I probably have some of the cheaper items in my box of sundries, certainly have lots of wheels). So, around £90 ready to cover. (I've not included the cost of printing a one piece plan, as it's so simple that 'tiled' sheets from my A4 printer would be fine - as a guide, Aerofred would charge about £20 for a plan). Insert adjective for current price of kit...... The Balsa Cabin Touch 'n Go is in stock at £96. So unless the Fusion or Fun E 52 comes back in stock, It's a toss up between the hassle of cutting a dozen or so ribs and 2 bits of ply, versus buying a box of bits 🙂 Thanks for the suggestion of a used model - I have a few that came my way, and the amount of time it'd take to get them to a level I'd be happy with would probably exceed the time they took to build in the first place. I've vowed not to acquire any more used models unless they are a 'must have' at a silly price - e.g. a Flair SE5 for under £100. I'll keep pondering. And try not to get distracted by other planes......
  17. That's really bad practice - an expensive lesson learnt. Hopefully damage was limited to just the model.....
  18. Yes, I meant leave the trim full down, and make sure the throttle stick is fully down before arming the aircraft.
  19. @911hillclimberHopefully you'll get help trimming it out as it's going to be pretty different to what I think you fly at the moment....
  20. That's an idea. I already have the plan off Aerofred - it's VERY simple. I have enough ply for firewall and the single fuselage former - the servo tray. I have foam for ribs. I have a whacking great roll of doculam. I have a fuel tank. I have a box full of wheels. Think I'll make a list of what I'd actually need to buy. Could be my first plan build for over a decade....... Thanks gents.
  21. Think my engine is too big..... I know it has a throttle but it'd mean extra weight, shorter flight times, and a faster flying plane...... I could enlarge it slightly I guess.
