  1. 310 Flat Twin and 360 Flat Twin for me please Jon. If ever the radial becomes available then that too...
  2. Nice work Craig. From where did you source your G10 please - the reason I ask is because you seem to describe thickness in terms of thousandths (of an inch, I guess) whereas most suppliers seem to describe thickness in mm? I apologise if you have already given this info in the thread. Cheers maurice
  3. Possibly try Cellulose Thinners to remove the paint on the fuselage Jon, that should not affect the fuselage.......
  4. The dumpy - or modified dumpy - with facility to add flexi pipe sounds good (pun not intended). But I would go with whatever you finally decide Jon, as I have done in the past and still do... Cheers maurice
  5. Yes Eric, I have just seen the photo of your first, well now you will get to enjoy the Tempest twice - like Frank Sinatra and New York - or something like that. We used to joke with Brian that he built an empty tank into the rear fuselage of his models and fill it with helium before he flew or the models were weighed.... he is still our demi-god for building numerous WW2 types especially at the weights he could achieve, together with his flying .... I look forward to more photos of your new one in flight in the nice weather mate....
  6. Glad it went well for you Eric. Brian's Tempest was my first radio scale model back in 1975. Absolutely loved it - if you enjoy half as much as I enjoyed mine you will be over the moon. maurice
  7. Thanks very much Brian, much appreciated. I have used acetate over the past century or so, but that is getting scarce, or at the places I try it is. Cheers maurice
  8. Open question: What glue do you use for PETG and/or Vivak when used for sticking (a) to balsa or other wood, and (b) for sticking to composite eg epoxy glass/polyester glass? TIA
  9. Thanks Jon, that's great. Yes I have the round mount. Cheers maurice
  10. Hi Jon Would you please advise the length of the 240 vee from the rear of the engine mount to the front of the prop driver and the diameter of the engine mount. No dimensions shown on your website for the 240 vee. Many thanks in anticipation. Cheers maurice
  11. I loved those little 90 degree nylon brackets, last got them about 5 years or more ago but cannot fr the life of me remember where I got them from......... But as Jrman said "Use a hardwood block with a piece of snake inner(Robart yellow) glued in for the screw fixing. Never had one come loose yet!"........... I have done this a number of times, a spot of superglue holds the insert in the wood...... HTH
  12. Blimey, that's a narrow runway, thought you had loads of space in France?
  13. Simon, I really enjoy your threads, and also admire your building skills, because I only ever (generally) work with wood plus a bit of f/g here and there. It has been great watching these Hawker types coming together because I followed all of them when when I was a sprog. Your stated problem (where to put them) is not a problem that will solve itself I am confident. However now the 1067 is complete, look on it as an opportunity to start on the contemporary Supermarine types...... please ? Break a leg, with the maiden ?
  14. Hi Jon, would this be similar power output to a 180 single - ie would it power a model in the same way as a 180 single?
  15. Yes Jon, if you can go ahead with them I am a definite mate.
  16. Thats great stuff, Thank You Glynn, pm sent to you and Richard Cheers maurice
  17. Yes Grumpy Gnome, spot on. I have spent some time over 2 days reading and digesting the BMFA writings regarding this subject. To be honest, I found it far more simple than others in various places were making it. Well done BMFA and Thank You for your time and your efforts.
  18. I have been looking on and off at these bits since Stu posted the photos and I am convinced that it is something to do with a Bowmans Magister with much sheet and strip and other parts missing. Having had a Bowman's Magister, the fin screamed out Bowman's Magister to me as did the former shapes as soon as I saw them. The outer wing panels of the Bowman Magister had those long bits of Bowden outer sticking out because they then went to the middle of the centre section that was 18 or 20 inches wide, which as you say would make the overall span correct for the same model. On the Bowman Magister all the lower formers behind the wing were built up from strip - as were the horizontal stab and elevators (built up from strip). The rudder however was built up from a central core of 1/8" and the part marked 26 in the photos appears to be the same as the rear vertical part of the rudder (which was part R3). But the part numbers stamped on the pieces in the photos do not match the Bowmans part numbers on my original instructions ...... is it possible Bowmans (or somebody else) reissued the kit with sheet elevators and a different parts numbering system????
  19. After many years of free-flight, first radio model was 1974 Tru-Line Senior Executive, 54-inch span, 3-function OS25, Skyleader radio which never let me down.
  20. Just to be consistent, I reconfirm my order for retracts with the kit please Richard... Cheers maurice
  21. Hi All..... nice brand new Forum. Well done and thank you to all involved. Cheers maurice
