  1. West of Scotland - 14th consecutive flying day yesterday (Monday). Can't complain - thanks to Aldi for their cold-weather stuff, particularly the salopettes, current on "special". Edited By John Robertson 3 on 22/01/2019 01:43:41
  2. It does indeed.  And I would be interested in the replies, being both a motorhome owner and having an interest in the PSSA's activities. Edited By John Robertson 3 on 22/01/2019 01:30:27 Edited By John Robertson 3 on 22/01/2019 01:31:52
  3. Al's Hobbies? I've had excellent service from them. It seems a bit harsh to get stuck in so early. I'm with Jon and Ron on this one. Go on - give them a ring and a fair crack of the whip.
  4. Aldi are selling these salopettes: https://www.aldi.co.uk/inoc-men%27s-pro-ski-salopettes/p/085931243723600 I liked my first pair last winter so much that I bought a second set in their half-price summer sale. The sizing guide has been spot-on.
  5. Regarding "what sort of flight times should i get just general sports flying?" - with a 3S 1800MAh pack, on a calm day, with no thermal activity, I can drift around and achieve 30 minutes without problems. If there's any sort of favourable light wind on my forty-foot-or-so slope this figure goes up significantly. 45 minute, and plenty charge left in the pack.
  6. "Sorry if my story here is going to bore you all . . .". Not in the least!
  7. On Digital Terrestrial TV there are on the "movies4men" channel:- Avro Vulcan 22nd December, 0300 (TONIGHT/TOMORROW MORNING); Avro Shackleton 25th December, 0300; The Lockheed Hercules 28th December, 0300. Admittedly, not "fillums", but at an hour each they'll be more of a documentary, but for a total of 3 hours I won't be complaining.
  8. Those SEALSKINZ socks? I had a cycling pal who had diabetes. He daren't risk cold feet damage in winter and bought a pair of these. He swore by them, whilst I put up with freezing, soaking, neoprene shoe covers. I was pained, he was always comfortable.
  9. Isn't that a lovely vintage go-cart as well? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Go-Cart/283261703352?hash=item41f3b694b8:g:Gp8AAOSwI01b7VmB:rk:21f:0
  10. Like Paul Hartley, I bought the sallopetes and used them last winter. They were perfect. So much so that I bought a 2nd pair this summer in the half-price on-line sale. Then I bought the matching ski-jacket, again half price. They were excellent, and I'd be perfectly willing to pay the full price If I needed more.
  11. James Kane 1 - it sounds like you've got the "Eurofighter Typhoon Kit" by GrahamGooch at https://www.norwichmodelaeroclub.co.uk/eurofighter-typhoon-kit-new-improved-version I have 2 - one flying, one yet to be built, once I have learned how best to both build it (light) and fly it properly. The built one is a bit heavy at 834gms (my fault - I can never resist "improvements". I have a 3S 2700MAh pack in it, which is a bit heavy and doesn't help weight. The motor is a 2838 8-turn 1100KV outrunner, of supposedly 336 Watts output. I ran some power tests with the pack at 40% capacity and the results were: 8x4 12.9A 138W, 8x6 17.4A 184W, 9x6 18A 194w, 10x6 18.5A 198W, 11x4.7 3D flexy stunt prop 26A 272W. Later, I checked the 11x4.7 prop at 100% pack capacity and got 30A 370W. I practice, I'm running the 10x6 prop which, at take-off, should be outputting about 250Watts for a short time. Once launched, the plane will go straight up. Rolling too, if you wish! I find that this truly vertical performance is, with a fully charged pack (and an overweight airframe/battery pack, remember), perfectly capable of being sustained to the absolute limits of my eyesight, to the point where I'm not too sure if it's still going the right way or not. Is that enough information for you to work on?   Edited By John Robertson 3 on 13/11/2018 15:20:55
  12. Is your "Inbox" at the top of the page flashing? If so, you have a message. And if it's from me then I'VE remembered how to PM!
  13. "Any Thoughts?". Not from me, I'm afraid. See post of 19th June. My airframe has now been repaired and is ready for radio and motor installation, but too many conflicting jobs have halted progress. I too will be interested in others' recommendations.
  14. Try: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JOB-LOT-42-GLOW-DIESEL-ENGINE-R-C-control-LINE-models-airplane-plane-barn-find-/132741470657?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137 £1500 for a load of "stuff".
  15. Posted by cymaz on 18/08/2018 19:28:08: Posted by kevin b on 18/08/2018 19:25:53: **LINK** Well it made me laugh ! Kevin b Wet undies department Ambitious pricing at the very least No takers, apparently. I wonder why?
  16. From the original post: "Final point: Please, Please, Please do not turn this thread into another 45 page ramble about drones and MR's - the situation is was it is - our job is the be positive and come out of this the best we can. The consultation is the topic of the thread let's be clear about that. So, armed, get your pen out and let's show them that we are reasonable people and a substantial body of well informed opinion - go for it guys!". So I have made my response to the DOT and submitted it a couple of minutes ago. Now for a lie-down in a darkened room.   Edited By John Robertson 3 on 15/09/2018 16:04:11
  17. No - NOT silly. Assumptions are the mothers-of-all- ************* etc! It's 30 degrees from the vertical, 60 degrees from the horizontal. The hooking point should be somewhere between the CG and the nose.
