  1. @Martin McIntosh PM me if you want OSF or 8's
  2. Stick with it Peter, you will get used to it and your input is valued!
  3. For lightweight filler, I use this Red Devil
  4. All excited again. I’m guessing that the extra 10 degrees of travel is a result of us coming out of lockdown? Your instructions about leg adjustments remind me of my uncle Ted, we used to have do something similar to his artificial leg otherwise he would walk round in circles.
  5. No matter how careful you are something slips through the net courtesy of static! A bit that was of some concern for covering were the air brakes mainly because I’ve really got to do them in situ and the pivot edge sealing was difficult to get at. As you can see, there is a very small gap, to small for the covering iron to get to, but this is where my ‘special iron came in to play
  6. I decided to glue some 3/32" strip to the LE, notched into the ribs Which resulted in straight LE, the horse has been fed! (The patchy look on the TE is where I've still got to go over it with the iron and cloth)
  7. I've now received the next roll of lam film and will be cutting it up over the weekend, the orders received for this batch are: @Paul C. - 20m @steve 1 - 20m @alan p - 20m @PatMc - 10m @Piers Bowlan - 20m @Dad_flyer - 10m @Mike Goulette - 20m @Jeffrey Cottrell 2 - 10m @colin wray 2 - 10m @mightypeesh - 10m I'll let you know when I've packaged it all up then you can pm me with your addresses and I'll let you know PayPal details.
  8. Or maybe not! I’ve got another idea which I’m going to investigate first!
  9. Having slept on it I think that I’ll cut off the LE and form a new one from solid balsa rather than the angled sheet. I know it will add weight but I think that it will be the best solution.
  10. Glad yours has arrived eventually! Just waiting for the next batch to be delivered which has already sold out!
  11. Thanks Trevor. I think that adding something to the front would be problematic as the whole rib profile would then be out, I did think about adding to the back of the LE but still not sure if that would prevent bowing, unless it was, as mentioned above, a strip of carbon end on. I will probably sleep on it but at the moment am favouring another set of ribs mid point between the existing ones.
  12. Tailplane done! Then it was back to the aileron and stripping off the covering fro the second time Probably going to cut some more ribs to go in-between the existing ones, still got the laser cut sheets so should be able to use cut out as template.
  13. Unfortunately I’ve come to the same conclusion Chris, it will annoy me! Good idea about the carbon rods, they will have to be put in compression, so parallel to the ribs, but being black they won’t show too much. The alternative was to fit some carbon strip, edge on, against the LE. I’ve put the ailerons to one side until I get some inspiration, or help (like you have given me Chris) and have started to cover the tailplane which has made me feel better!
  14. Moved on to the ailerons and encountered an issue, after shrinking the LE has developed a ‘starving horse’ appearance. So I stripped the covering off and redid it paying particular attention applying the least amount of heat, a bit better but still has introduced some curves. Not quite sure what to do, leave it as is or strip it and try and add some bracing for the LE.
  15. Lots of sanding over the last couple of days leading to the start of the big cover up. After yesterday’s flying I dusted the elevator off and started with that for the covering.
  16. And this is not a criticism but it does reinforce the need to check all flying surfaces before flying, I’ve been there! Regarding changing the thrust line to overcome climb on throttle up, why not just add a mix to elevator to counter climbing?
  17. I would strongly recommend not to wear metal helmets for fear of lightning strikes. ?
  18. I took PS2 out for a second day of flying today, boy was it windy again, but this time gusting and a lot colder. I moved the battery back by about 20mm didn't seem to make that much difference (difficult to tell in the wind) but, once again, It handled the conditions really well and I also got to try the snap roll which I need to perfect but it does them like Peter said. After 8 - 9 minutes of fairly energetic flying, I had 60% battery left (4S 3700 40C) which bodes well for calmer days.
  19. I use Fusion 360 which I find suits me fine (and it is free!). There are lots out there but Fusion 360 has got a good YouTube presence so finding how to do things is quite good. I'm no great CAD expert, sure I used to draw building extensions years ago using CAD but the whole 3D thing was new to me but I have got used to using it. The slicing software I use is PrusaSlicer which, again, is perfectly suited to my needs.
