  1. So I made a loom thing which _does_ add a bit of length, and I didn't shorten the battery wires from the ESCs to compensate. I hope it's short enough not to cause issues. I extended the ESC to motor wires and then plaited them together (apparently this helps to reduce interference elsewhere. I've got my motor wires coming through the top of the engine pod to fuse former. Oh and I added a vent hole under the gun at the front. I've not sorted out the exhaust vent yet, but will likely have some slatted ply behind the wing trailing edge on the fuselage.
  2. Please do let us know any personal observations of these once you get yer mitts on 'em?!
  3. I extended the wires from the ESCs to the motors. Apparently way less of an issue than extending the wires from the battery to the ESCs. My ESCs reside towards the front of the wing in the fuselage.
  4. Lidl one is about £70, and is basically a Schepach unit or similar. I've not snapped a blade yet, but maybe I'm lucky. I've only cut out two plan builds so far which involves cutting fairly thin birch ply or lite ply. After a bit of practise it gets easier, you learn the ways of the machine. But I'm really glad I picked one up. Mines bolted by the way. My lidl one is identical to this: https://offers.kd2.org/en/gb/lidl/pgeLI/ I'm not sure when they'll release it next, but keep an eye out. 3 year guarantee too!
  5. I've got a lidl one and I found it brilliant for cutting out fuselage formers and for rough shaping block balsa. Thoroughly recommend.
  6. If only I'd made a built up tail - my pushrods sit below the tailplane:
  7. Oh my oh my. This looks too addictive by half! And a source of income should you have the inclination! I'm super duper uber impressed!
  8. Excellent stuff. I really look forward to seeing the retracts in place - The plane is really quite well thought out it seems, but could just do with being a bit bigger so I like your approach! The trailing edge spar is a great touch. I too didn't like the fact that there was no W1 at the root of the dihedral - I wish I'd stuck an extra rib each side in. I instead added riblets to the W1 which supported the wing skin. The wing of mine certainly feels sturdy enough now that it's fully sheeted. I just got the wing bolt installed and I would suggest perhaps both of double bolts and double dowels at the leading edge to make it more solid when screwing the wing down. I am detailing all of my build here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/vECz78aDhvmBczh68
  9. I know a Diamond Geezer from Arinsal. I don't suppose it's the same one?
  10. I can't see any pics I'm afraid Martin!
  11. I'd be happy to take this off your hands for that price if you could include the postage in the £75...
  12. Look forward to seeing some pics of your progress.
  13. Here's a link to the google photo album I'm doing. Add some comments here and there as I go too. You will notice I'm not strictly following the build order but I hope the outcome is successful all the same! https://photos.app.goo.gl/vECz78aDhvmBczh68
  14. Oh good luck Martin, I hope you will keep us updated on progress! I'm doing a build photo album with the odd comment, but I'd not shared it yet on here.
  15. These are definitely filled with FETs, so one can assume that they're switching BECS! Poetry is my forté!
  16. I'm reading horror stories so will remove a red wire!!!
  17. Would it hurt to just have both BEC's running into the Rx?
  18. I was planning to do the same for my ESC set up, but I hadn't thought of varying the output with a rudder mix. I might have to have a go at that too! Are you sending two lots of BEC power into the rx, or have you pulled the red wire out of one of the connectors?
  19. What so you vary the output of the edf's when you use the rudder? That's genius, I wish I'd thought of that!!!
  20. Mine is likely to be a heavyweight missile as I'm adding rudders to scratch my engineering itch! I'm also going with ESC's in the fuse rather than the engine pods to counter the weight of the servo in the tail! I'm going to cover with some super matt lamination film before spraying - I'll update you with the weight of mine once she's done!!! I'm building mine from the free plan but I think I am going to have to succumb to buying a canopy - I could easily enough use some pop bottles for the engine cowling but I can't see me being able to fashion a canopy so I might as well buy the vac form kit from TN and maybe even add the pilot whilst I'm at it!
