I wouldn't like to put a 61 fs in a Durafly Spitfire Paul.

Back in the 1970s we rented a large house for two weeks on a hill overlooking Torbay. Checking over the house I went upstairs and the bedroom window had a balcony with unrestricted views over the bay. I heard the drone of an aeroplane in the distance, it was a Swordfish. It seemed to take forever to get across the bay as it passed where I was standing it was only slightly higher than me, a fantastic sight. I have heard the German ships had trouble shooting them down as they were too slow for the gun sight synchronisation, they did not fare so well against the fighters.

A good Sam Smith outfit, you will ger them in that.

Welcome back, it is probably the same Ken Anderson who contributes to this forum, he started the funnies thread. You could try giving him a P.M I'm sure he would be happy to see his limbo dancer still exists.

Hi Chris, mine stays on the dolly till I give it a touch of elevator. Flying alone I run it to the edge of the strip then take off that,way that way I'm clear for landing. Being the old man of the club, when others are there the recover the dolly for me and complain if I take it too far away.

Long legs are fine for the 190 Chris

Not so calm in NW Durham, nice to see the sun and blue skies, flew the Warbirds FW190 and broke a prop first landing, gusty conditions replaced prop and carried on. Also flew my depron 109f. 5 turned up today.

Well sods law struck, first flight today I broke a prop landing the 190. Sunny day but blustery wind just on touch down I heard the click, the 12" not 22 prop snapped. After replacing it no more problems.

My eyes are getting worse, long sight is great reading off the phone poor. It should be 12x6 Hopefully a minor operation on Friday will help.

I have a 22x6 on mine, Racestar 4250 800kv, more than scale speed, less chance of a prop breaking and 7 min flights.

Good crowd today at our strip, the cool breeze dropped off in the afternoon, had some good flights with the Warbirds Replicas FW190 and the Brian Taylor Corsair.

That is a very nice Dragonfly Chris, All the Aerotech kits had foam veneer wings with no washout. The Mosquito kit I have has a pair of outer panels with washout, these were cut for me by a friend to replace the original panels. I must make an effort to build it before I get to old. If you have the facility to cut your own wings why not make a pair with washout and as veneer is not so readily available sheet them with balsa.

I had some good flying today with my FW190 and Corsair, all dolly take offs and i will endorse your comments on the 190. It is a winner,

Hi Chris, washout is built into the wing on the building board, it is virtually a twist in the wing. I haven't tried it as I was told many years ago putting both ailerons up would not have the same effect as washout.

On recollection I flew from a ww2 airfield with the Aerotech P38 and Stuka, and always brought them in fairly quickly as they were prone to tip stalls,

Yes I will build it if I live long enough, I like to experiment with alternative options but I do build in a traditional way also . This Bristol Bulldog was built from a plan, a labour of love at the time as there was no precut parts. Sarik have now produced a laser cut set for it very tempted but the exhaust system was a pita and I don't do 3d printing.

I think it is a lot of money, but I live in the past, when they were going down they sold everything off cheap, the single engine profile models models were £15 and the twins were £19. I bought a profile Mosquito, the fuselage and nacelles were veneered 1" thick foam the wings were semi semi symmetrical section and the tail feathers balsa. I fattened it up and it flew well once I changed the 600 brushed motors for Axi 2028/ 10s I believe it was 60" span. I also built the Stuka from the Aerotech kit it had an OS 40 2 stroke again no complaints with the flying.

Hi Chris, The P38 was 72"span, I still have a Mosquito kit to start, that is 71"span.

The Aerotech Wellington, 86" span

Hi Chris, I believe they appeared in the late 1980's , I bought the P38 Lightning from thier stand at a show. On opening the kit at home it had two port wing panels. After many phone calls 3months later I received the starboard panel at another show. It was not a great kit but once built it flew OK and looked good in the air.I later built the Wellington from their range it flew well till an engine failed..
